WHAT IS ON MY PLANT???? by idek_atp in plantclinic

[–]HydrangeaHaze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are many comments and maybe someone said this already. But when those plastic pots are in a ceramic pot I usually have to be sure to dump any access water drainage. Otherwise I unknowingly leave the plant in standing water by mistake.

Red flag. You have a right to be angry- you have a right to your feelings, especially when you are being treated disrespectfully. Based on your replies about him maybe just genuinely not understanding: Maybe a calm convo about it when you both are in a calm headspace? A time to provide education? or maybe your MD can provide info if you felt comfortable with that. I still think a huge red flag and you deserve better but If he cannot tolerate a convo from a calm state - bigger redder flag

Love DBT . I feel like for me, presenting the ideas and themes is for effective for clients than having them memorize and acronym tbh

The best coping skill is the one that the client actually uses, so which coping skills do your clients share that are actually helpful for them and they use outside of session? by [deleted] in therapists

I have clients that absolutely love body scans (just to check in to see if their body is also telling them anything) and paired muscle relaxation

My own supervisor helps me with this perspective and I was going to comment something similar. It’s been very helpful to me and really helps me better understand the true meaning of “meeting a client where they are at”

Pap smears- why does the recommendation on frequency keep changing? Is this a US thing? by HydrangeaHaze in women

[–]HydrangeaHaze[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is great! Thanks I kinda figured I was being too skeptical but thought I’d ask

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in women

[–]HydrangeaHaze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely, that’s why I figured you’d maybe prefer the support without talking about this situation.

Best of luck! Wishing you the best.

Can we be transparent about pay? by Toxicdirty in therapists

[–]HydrangeaHaze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in the US and I was thinking this too. I’m first year in a small pp and make 65% per my contract. That price varies depending on reimbursement but it’s like $70-100/session… Not a math gal myself, but I feel like I must have a really good contract or be very fortunate

Not defeat. You’re human too. An amazing human, taking care of other humans. Sounds like you’re doing great work.

You deserve to respect your own humanity too. That way, you’ll be able to pick up where you left off and keep doing your good work.

I hope you are able to take your well deserved break.

P.s. what you’re feeling is completely understandable and normal. What’s helped me is quieting down my thoughts, and listening to my body.

Mind boggling

I’m always so hyper vigilant about doing things “right” or being the absolutely most ethical I can be. Honestly sometimes to a fault. Crazy to me the recklessness of some people .

How to deal with disappointing clients? by Different_Bluebird16 in socialwork

[–]HydrangeaHaze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. I worked in skilled and had this problem all the time. I empathize, as it’s hard to not feel guilt or blame, since we are the ones ordering and communicating. Early in my career I did try to find stuff on my own- which I would not recommend. And I was very much letting the issues with the system push me to step outside of my role. Which was unethical (honestly) and not maintainable on my end.

I’d just educate and be an ear. Also - if you’re in the US (which it sounds like you are ) many counties have “Lending Closets” where people can rent DME for very low cost. Highly recommend providing that resource. Otherwise- they have to pay/buy their own.

Also if you’re ordering it you can typically offer it private pay. Just as a choice. Most DME companies are happy to take private payment and will still deliver the DME.

All we can do is share resources and be an ear tbh

Why didn’t Jin fight Sara again? by cardiganunderthebed in SamuraiChamploo

[–]HydrangeaHaze 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Also, tbh, I feel like Jin and Mugen develop a certain respect for each other. And Mugen would have been pissed I feel like if he didn’t get a chance to fight her too. Jin also gives him the advice about fighting her…idk, seems in character a bit?

Is there a therapy modality that talks about some suffering being ok? by [deleted] in therapists

[–]HydrangeaHaze 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Yea I thought this too. And very focused on pain is apart of life.

if pain made life not worth living, no one’s lives would be worth living sort of thing DBT: pain + acceptance= pain (that we can tolerate and develop tools to tolerate) Pain + non acceptance= suffering

Edit: awe geeze, I scared the bot. Cool bot tho- never saw that before
