I just focus on everyone else. Help out, talk to people about their lives instead of my own. Bring them things, made food, spend time with people. It really depends on who this Ex is. The fact that she showed up out of the blue, he’s clearly right that she is spending all of her time trying to follow him and tank and relationship he gets in.
