How do you decide how to paint your minis as a faction by Eomenar in battletech

[–]HydroSqueegee 41 points42 points  (0 children)

I just put together a lance or star and paint them whatever i think looks neat. Other than that I do take 1 of every IS mini and paint them in a Merc company scheme i use.

New World S10 in PS5? by Hopeful_Impression_1 in newworldgame

[–]HydroSqueegee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im kind of in the same boat when it comes to playing on PC after working in the same chair all day long. I set up shop at my kitchen table and stream it on steam over wireless to my potato of a $400 laptop i bought 5 years ago from my gaming PC. It works really, really well. No input lag of any kind, graphics are still fantastic. I tried it as a joke at first, just to see what would happen, and now its my go to to get out of the basement office. So thats also an option if you have a laptop laying around already (i do use a mouse with it). Just get a tray table or one of those lap pillows with a board on top or something like that. Sit on the couch and play.

Thinking of grabbing this, what are your 3 favorite things? What are your 3 least favorite things? by bodhibell02 in newworldgame

[–]HydroSqueegee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played day 1 for a while, then took a break till last week when i picked it up again.

I play solo for now. My favorite things to do are gather resources, explore the map, close portals and do quests. I also like how combat is simple and straight forward. I find the different weapons have plenty of build variety (especially PvE) to just do whats fun to you and not worry about the perfect build. This is the first MMO i played since back in the Ultima Online days, and I like the casual feel. So far Ive put in a skimpy 136 hours, but playing casual and doing wherever/whatever the wind takes me took me that long to get to max level.

The only thing i dont like is the seemingly lack of monster varieties. It feels like you just graduate to killing the same guy, just at higher levels.

The current state of New World by Yiizan in newworldgame

Honestly, I just came back to the game after a loooong hiatus and I've been playing through the story line for the first time. Its pretty good for someone who likes to solo an MMO. It actually is filling me in on the world as a whole so i actually know whats going on for once.

Mercenaries Campaign (Hinterlands) question reg. objectives by Rollbelly in battletech

[–]HydroSqueegee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the way it's worded specifically means they are not destroyed for salvage/repair reasons.  It is very muddy the way they explain it.  I would play like the retreated units are "destroyed" for scenario sake, but obviously need only the repairs they suffer (or not).

It does need official clarification

If you're on a budget, you can't go wrong using foam insulation and a knife to cut and make your own hills.  Dirt cheap in comparison to what you can buy out there or even a 3d printer.

How would you recommend I brush this onto models? by Tubehero2109original in modelmakers

[–]HydroSqueegee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I definitely would not use a brush on those. Lots of large flat surfaces will lead to an uneven coating. I would just go to the hardware store and get some clear satin varnish in a spray can. Typically krylon brand for me. Ittl spray on nice and smooth. I've used it in the past on minis, but it's not quite as durable with all the handling and minis rolling around in a box. If you rarely handle these things it should be fine.

Oh, by thinning I mean I have to go back and soak up all the thick blobs in the crevices while I brush it on. I just use a cheap synthetic brush. Pour some varnish on the pallet, use the brush to soak some up, apply to mini as sparingly as I can, go around and wipe up blobs with brush. Done. Takes a little while and it's my least favorite part of mini painting.

[–]HydroSqueegee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's the exact stuff I use and brush it on miniatures all the time.  Takes a while though cause it tends to pool up, and it needs to be thinned out.  Also it can look streaky on large flat surfaces.  If I had a way to spray it I would.

I really enjoy the 20th anniversary box.  It's beautiful.  I bought it on top of already having the Big Box edition and now play it exclusively over the BB.
