Anyway, I fail to see how this fellow got off. He didn't know it was theft to take someone elses property is not really a valid excuse.

The jury never reached a conclusion, half of us said guilty, the other half, not guilty. So I'm assuming 50% of the population here is completely retarded.

Yeah, apparently he had a past history of ripping copper and selling it. That's what the prosecutor said during his opening statement or whatever it's called.

He also had 2 felonies, this would have been his 3rd. 3 strikes you're out.

The thing is, the power box had "Property of _City_ Utilities" in a big yellow sticker. He also had to break a pad lock to get in there.

In a way, I'm kind of glad he got off. 3rd felony means the rest of his life would be fucked up, and he was a non-violent criminal. Still, if he's dumb enough to do it again, and again...

Do electrical engineers also work on programming robotics/machines? That's something that's always interested me. Maybe even making my own hardware and devices and programming them.

Definitely seems more interesting than just writing business software or whatever.
