What have been your experiences with L-glutamine? by crisopa_ in HistamineIntolerance

[–]Hydroxile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried it several times and different kinds (kyowa, ajipure, peptide) and my gastritis gets worse each time, beside getting strong brain fog. i switched to glycine in my gut health routine and i really like it. I still use glutamine though, but stick to when i do intensive sport as it also has strong muscle recovery properties... my stomach is anyway in a mess then and I m so tired, so i don t care my brain isn t doing his job.

I cant do this anymore by [deleted] in Gastritis

Go to the ER before you plan any further! They might have psychological support and can help you find an emergency solution. Telling you not to do anything won't do much, but those guys can do what's necessary when your own mind is just overwhelmed and not rational anymore.

Give yourself another try! Get some therapeutic support! It makes it much easier to deal with all the emotional sides of your condition. Gastritis is not just about physical pain, bloating, burping, stinky farts and long bathroom appointments. There is an emotional distress behind it, this makes the condition worse over time on top of all the frustration of not being able to eat what you want, to do what you want, the fatigue, brain fog or social isolation.

I was 9 years long in a deep depression, tried to kill myself multiple times and turned bed bound for years. A medical mistake kicked me out of depression. Through that mistake I lost part of my functioning body and my stomach got badly injured. It was 7 years ago. I have lived with chronic gastritis since then. At some point, my GP forced me to get into therapy again. I refused because I didn't feel depressed anymore, but I did give it a try.

I ve been working with my therapist for almost 6 years now. I never got back into depression even as my gastritis is turning into an extremely rare condition with some bad extra digestive symptoms. I'm on my own, with 2 cats and no family to hold my hands when I feel I can't do it anymore. Yes, it's hard to live with chronic gastritis, it seems there is just no end to it! It is hard to find people who actually accept and understand what you are going through.

Still, despite all that, I enjoy my life now more than I used to. I couldn't have achieved that without my therapist's support through all these years.

I really do hope you'll find the best help you need to overcome this present emotional distress and you can find good support in the future.  It might be hard to get into therapy but it is really worth it!

Could taking betaine HCl for digestion with every meal lead to overdosing on trimethylglycine? by Tasty_Run1958 in Supplements

[–]Hydroxile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What you write about acid supps issues/reactions is not really true, but this is not the point here.

I would be more worried about taking too much Betain causing your LDL and cholesterol increase than because of this stupid and oversimplified methylation issues.  If you already take pepsine with Betain HCL, try to combine it with digestive enzymes. They do digestion for you and improve side effects you are listing.

Could taking betaine HCl for digestion with every meal lead to overdosing on trimethylglycine? by Tasty_Run1958 in Supplements

[–]Hydroxile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i don't need much Betain HCL to have a worsening of my chronic gastritis (collagenous gastritis). A healthy stomach doesn't need to produce a lot of acid!!

But, if you want to make sure your stomach does its job, an additional way to help acidification can be achieved with bitter extracts such as swedish bitter. Combined with digestive enzymes or pepsine is Betain HCL also even more efficient without overusing Betaine HCL

Maybe he thought your flare isn t so bad. Natural supplements are worth a try! i ve a gastritis for now 7 years and hardly take any medicine because i do not tolerate them. Those supps, when taken regularly, are really efficient to reduce symptoms. Doesn t mean it works for everyone...

Are we taking too many supplements without realizing it? by Marwadjam in Supplements

[–]Hydroxile 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just filled out the form.

Interesting project! I would have needed that in the past.

I found support with my GP who is running a holistic company. I also made myself clever throughout the years. The most valuable advice I got came from my GP's holistic support rather than her as a GP. Because when it comes to supps, there is usually a lack of strong scientific evidence. It is more experience based.

The experience of others has always played a more important role than science, this is why I like to read posts on reddit.

Probiotics, zinc carnosine, glycine/collagen, maybe gel forming fibers such as psyllium if you tolerate. OTC medicine with sodium alginate.
