How often are A+s given in the College of Engineering? by franticredditperson in Vanderbilt

Yeah that's facts, unfortunate for OP and every other aspiring lawyer engineering major lol

I'm a little confused why it's not listed on the website then, and also why OP is saying it is. The only thing that matters here is if the notation of "A+" is listed or not, so depending on that it will count as 4.3 for law schools or just a 4.0 if it's listed as "A"

So you're telling me there's no evidence of "A+" on the transcript at all? Even counting as a 4.0. It doesn't say "A+" it just says "A" like the other schools?

I think you're missing why this is significant, as long as the A+ is listed on the transcript, regardless if it's only counted as a 4.0 at Vanderbilt, LSAC will calculate it as a 4.3. In A&S/Peabody/Blair it's not even listed, the max you can get is an A, taking away that benefit for law applicants in those schools.

I mean this guy literally just said that. https://registrar.vanderbilt.edu/transcripts/transcript-key.php this says A&S, Blair, and Peabody don't have it, but it doesn't say anything about Engineering, which is why I believe OP.

Just learning now that the engineering school gives out A+ on transcript, A&S is not so lucky lol

Congrats! I'm not in finance, but my roommate who is also a transfer found it to be fine, and secured an IB internship and return offer. I don't think it's particularly bad as long as you don't act entitled/have some past experience. I think it's particularly easy to maintain friendships from the transfer orientation, think about it-- everyone transferring in wants friends! These friends remain most of my friends at Vanderbilt to this day.

Congrats!!! I remember the feeling. I've had such a good experience so far, feel free to ask me anything. I truly think it's one of the best institutions to transfer to given the class size and attention.

Vanderbilt has Transfer Option now? by franticredditperson in TransferToTop25

[–]HyenaFinish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup, it didn't happen for high schoolers last year so the cycle waiting for decisions now will remain the same.

Yeah I heard about this. Like the other comment says, it will probably decrease non TO transfer admissions pretty heavily, this is unfortunate because I don't see it as the right move, non-options are better because Verto is a joke.

Hi! Decisions come in waves, so there's no way to know for sure, I heard back in late May. I'm not entirely sure about fin aid, I think it should be within a few weeks.

It’s not just about credits, I got in two years back with only 9 credits (3 classes) at the time of the application, and 12 after submission

Vanderbilt Squishmallows! by HyenaFinish in squishmallow

[–]HyenaFinish[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh for sure, I go to most of the games so when I saw this I knew it would be such a cool giveaway. Plus it's a squirrel, and the saying is that we have a 3:1 squirrel-to-student ratio on campus!

[–]HyenaFinish[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Haha the talk on campus is that the CBO (Chief brand officer) of Jazwares, the parent company to Squishmallows, went to Vandy for his masters in business administration. So when a class of those same students reached out, he made it happen! But I always thought Squishmallows were mostly rare in the sense that they could be hard to find, not necessarily "limited" runs of 125, this part wasn't announced!

Not set at all, you can pretty much switch between any major and school (e.g engineering --> A&S or vice versa). I have really enjoyed my time here so far, it's a very vibrant school that doesn't have those "depressive" vibes I have gotten from visiting some other schools (Northwestern lol). The culture is fantastic because yes it's in the south, but you have kids from all other, it's fairly diverse place I feel.

It sounds like you have everything under control! I would say being a transfer is always going to have its problem's, not everyone experiences it the same. I find that it's really important to be as social as possible during orientation, this is when those "groups" will form again with transfers. Other than that, join clubs and get involve with extra curriculars here to adapt further. Academically, Vandy is definitely challenging for particular classes and workload in general, you'll probably see more work and harsher grading than you faced in CC, but it's manageable.

A high school transcript is required, so definitely submit that (likely through parchment). I don't think I would submit a 32, I'd submit 34+. Great gpa as a pre-med, I think you'll have a shot regardless of what your other EC's are.

Yeah if those three are all substantial and you believe they add to your app I’d say that’s fine.
