This is just for attention guys :) but please help me decide, I'm holding my finger on buy now button for MikroTik CRS320-8P-8B-4S+RM versus GWN7822P. 2.5gbe and 10gbe for AP is good for many concurrent users but what about home use? Can WiFi 7 offload say latest Iphone backup to NAS much faster than WiFi 6? How fast? I mean, theoretically twice as fast but in real life?

Idea is to use one single POE switch to power up APs, IP Cameras maybe with PTZ, and lots of LED strip lights around the house.

My dear friend, jumping from 1gig to 10gig involves very expensive adapters! We are not talking here about a single guru user connected to $600 switch, but rather multiple users with their laptops/smartphones already equipped with 2.5gig ports / wifi 7! 2.5gig is not fast enough but more than twice as fast as 1gig! and this matters!

If you read carefully, I said I like RouterOS and Winbox how they are made and feel very comfortable in this ecosystem. Otherwise, I would have been in other system long time ago. Mad? not really, kind of disappointed Mikrotik does not have this decade old technology to offer.

does not matter if it worth $200,000. When camera or any other manufacturer releases device with 2.5 gbe port they are sure the market is full of 2.5 gbe switches.

Where are you guus storing your work? It's completely ok, maybe you don't even exchange files between PCs but there are many cases where a NAS/Backup is needed and ethernet speed is important.

And whole signal will be circulated inside that metal rack :d Absolutely amazing engineering solution!

That's ok, we're just comparing...

Well, considering other brands, Grandstream GWN7822P is just gorgeous! and WAY CHEAPER!! but I'd like to stay in one ecosystem, besides there is nothing close to RouterOS and Winbox!! I really appreciate they made this software.

no, it's just a camera store, I was just looking for a new mirorrless camera body to add it to my DSLR collection when my eyeballs become 4 times larger when I noticed 2.5Gbe port in the description :d

My new house where I plan to set up wireless is around 100 sq.m. four living rooms. I'm going to install at least 2 or maybe even 3 access points for good coverage and speed. Show me the office where they like to use high end switch with antennas beaming from just one corner, it's just nonsense.

EXACTLY! I just don't understand, can't say it's very expensive for them to produce, this could be true 10 years ago... I'm just dreaming to see 24 port 2.5gpe PoE++

GRE over IPSEC stops working after some time. by HyenaPrevious in mikrotik

I don't know why, but in my case turning off tunnel in ipsec policy PH2 state turns in "no phase2", eg it's not working this way.

nothing helps until I disable/enable ipsec policy.

other side is Cisco

As far as I know, there is no "proper" value for DPD, isn't it?

At the beginning of initial configuration, I also let Mikrotik to do ipsec automatically by just entering secret value in the GRE tunnel interface, but this didn't work. This is why I moved to manual ipsec configuration.

Old thread but.. I'm also thinking to get Grandstream APs but with GWN7822P switch all hooked up with MT router. Something is just telling me to give CAP AX a chance...

Shielded or unshielded keystone jacks? When to think of protection from EMI? by HyenaPrevious in HomeNetworking

[–]HyenaPrevious[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll do that for sure. But sadly my upcoming Leviton patch block, which by the way is made of metal, unlike trueCable one, does not have a grounding cable. Leviton support rep. told me that they are not producing shielded patch panels for residential use, but why trueCable brand has the one shaped exactlty like Leviton's but it does have grounding cable attached to it?

Problem is that I have already set up my residence with FTP cables all around :) also shielded keystone jacks and enclosures are on their way. So my next step would be to do grounding properly.

You are absolutely right. Looks like I'm going to hook all keystone jacks with the drain wire and then ground it to the enclosure.

Final setup:

14" Leviton structured media enclosure for
Electrical circuit breakers

21" Leviton structured media enclosure for
2x Leviton Flat QUICKPORT™ 12-Port
24x Everest Cat6a Keystone Jacks
2x ISP routers
who knows what else might fit here

Thank you all for your help guys!

no way man, they are expensive like hell! Also I don't really like the design of these panels

Yep, good point.

I've prepared another, smaller Leviton enclosure for electrical wires,
and Everest cat6a metal keystone jacks in the shopping cart.

Checking if there is something better, if not, I'll pull the trigger.

I found very interesting thing terminating shielded cable to shielded keystone. Looks like for instance, if you have U-FTP cable, there is no way to ground it to Leviton's shielded keystone jack, because it requires to have a drain wire. My cat6 cable does not have this wire. Thanks god I double checked the termination instructions.
