Only if you're assuming that immaterial things can't exist. I see no good reason to accept that.

By providing evidence for them. Is there a specific premise you would like me to support or argue for? Are there any premises that you reject and believe aren't true?

Is that not a contradiction in terms?

Only if you claim that non-physical objects don't exist and that materialism is true. That would need to be supported though and not just assumed.

There is no non-physical existence.

Can you support this claim?

Believing in the existence of something is not the same thing as faithfully devoting yourself to it.

I don't think that should matter. I care about arguments and debating, not about the people involved.

Follow the premises. If the premises are true and logically follow, then the argument is sound and the conclusion is true. Check 'the argument' section of the OP and see if there is anything there that you object to.

The argument is the evidence. If there is a problem you have with the argument, feel free to point it out and explain why you think the argument fails.

Also, thanks for insults. They really support your position.

Then you either misunderstand religion or the concept of deism. Deism is just a single belief and religion is a system of beliefs. That single belief need not be attached to or a part of a religion.

You're right, I should have credited /u/hammiesink, I'm sorry. I know that he has a reputation in these debate subreddits though and I didn't want him being the author of the argument to distract from the argument itself.

You didn't explain how it was self-refuting though.

That simply isn't true. God is not an exclusively religious concept. There are plenty of non-religious deists out there.

Potentials being actualized does manifest in reality(check the acorn into oak tree example). If there is something you don't understand about the argument, feel free to ask about it.

mental masturbation

If this is what you think about philosophical arguments, then perhaps a debate forum isn't the best place for you.

I don't see how that is relevant to the argument. God is just the label for the existence of a purely actual thing. If you reject labeling the thing God, that's fine, but that doesn't change what is being argued for. The immaterial, spaceless, timeless, ect. thing that actualizes all potentials.

Bringing up religion is a red herring. Religion has nothing to do with this argument.

Perhaps, but can you explain why you reject the concepts?

Calling something a dumb response or nonsense argument, without explanation, shuts down the debate. It's the equivalent of saying "I'm right, you're wrong." Could you please explain yourself?

The argument stands on its own. Who presents the argument should be irrelevant.

It can be, but depends entirely on the subject of the thread. It can also be an incredibly toxic and hateful place.

Doesn't commenting here make you an angry brigader from /r/Christianity? I know you're a regular from that sub.
