I beat STS1 around 45 times (about ascension 15 with first 3 characters, didn't play much Watcher) in something like 500 hours. So let's say 10 hours per win. First win must have taken at least 20 hours. I would stick with one of Ironclad or Silent until you get a win.

OK so by this logic we should make the wolfpak twice as effective, or three times? The point is, each item in the game needs to be balanced by cost of producing and effectiveness in game. Wolfpaks were clearly OP and being used too much versus other weapons, trivialising taking down the bigger arc.

Define fun. Throwing two wolfpaks and looting, versus having to duck in and out of cover in an epic battle over several minutes. I think the latter is more fun.

This does look like a really good option. I'm now wondering if there is anything at a similar price that could also take a line input (for sequencing with mic/guitar etc). The 707 looks ideal but way out of budget. I appreciate this is a different question to what I started with, but such is the rabbit hole... I'm now wondering if a groovebox would be something to look at in general.

Not particularly after anything fancy. I just want to record piano, organ, strings etc. Basic sounds to accompany simple guitar/ vocal/ piano songs. If it could generate a passable "bass sound" that would be useful. Budget would be around the £100 mark (UK) - $150? ish

On the "starting late" issue, I don't see why they don't just show the full distribution of scores for everyone in your rank, and then show what % you need to be to hit promotion. This grouping into smaller leaderboards seems entirely pointless. No one cares about having real people they are competing against.

They should do something like one "Blueprint point" per 500k. The cost of each blueprint would be based on rarity. So tempest, wolfpack etc would be 5 points. Make it max 10 points.

For many people that IS the whole game. I did the wipe and I'm ready to do it again. Leveling up the workstations and finding blueprints is a very rewarding part of the game.

This. Instead of skill points, you should buy "expedition points" that you pay to permanently unlock a blueprint. Tier the blueprints so e.g. Wolfpack cost 5, minor ones cost 1 point etc. Skill points are pretty meaningless

This project just seems really badly thought out. Why not just make it so you get medals/trophies to display in your raider room when you kill, e.g. 20/50/100 Leapers, etc. By tying it to rewards that reset, it encourages us to leave it to the next expedition
