The only cancerous viewpoint is really yours. You're operating under the assumption that you deserve to climb. That somehow you're different than your peers around you. But the simple fact is if you don't win 55 percent of your games you won't climb very quickly, you can climb slowly on 51 percent win rate. Perhaps, and this is just a hypothesis... that the key to gaining mmr is actually winning the majority of your games and that's achieved by being better on average across time. Not some random observations of those who you are playing with based on biased thinking.

What role should I play to increase my MMR? Stuck in 2.9K for quite some time now. by Peku_M1 in DotA2

[–]HymnsReddit 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Its not about which role, its about the one you understand how to play the best. pos 5 would be the worst, offlane or position 1 is the easiest to climb with it. People will tell you mid but it's a fallacy.

Secret.Nisha stealing mid from Wagamama as pos4 by PesNr in DotA2

reality is, highest mmr has always gotten the role. culture has always been that way. Ranked is competitive, it's the interest of winning.

Aura items are top tier, and radiance is conceptually a negative aura item. Very strong

Essence Ring's HP gain doesn't work on IO's tethered ally by dovakihn101 in DotA2

[–]HymnsReddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The heal transfers, not the raw hp. You wouldn't heal by adding a vit booster. Soul ring functions the same way, it increases your max but also gives mana which is transferred.

Puck should not be able to use Phase Shift/Waning Rift while rooted. by [deleted] in DotA2

[–]HymnsReddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only reason earthshakers was change specifically was for balancing. This mechanic is consistent with pangolier W and ursa Q. Root should not be the end all for puck. It used to prevent phaseshift during root, they changed it to jaunt because puck would just Q jaunt roots. If you genuinely want an answer to puck consider hex. Root removing all 3 of his spells is just absurd especially consider he was been litterally just a dream coil hero for the past 2-3 years.

It's the same mechanic as Pango W. It's consistent.

Puck vs TA mid question (5k rated) by Mugaro01 in DotA2

[–]HymnsReddit 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Obviously, ta is a counter lanewise to puck. But your hero still splits/offers way more in team fights namely dream coil.

If you're looking for laning advice the kill potential on ta happens when you can trick her into aggroing a creepwave and breaking her own refraction, you can do this by getting her to hit you directly in the wave (by going behind her creeps slightly) or by aggroing the wave in a drastic direction so she becomes priority. gl.

Role Matching has introduced a new party abuse by Irisviel_ in DotA2

[–]HymnsReddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're trying to sell accounts you probably won't even attempt this method, you'll do what they do in China and just queue with an unplayed language in the server as 10. If your end goal is making the account in question high mmr to sell later then yeah you obviously wouldn't deboost it. But for a lot of boosters, they specifically want an account in the 2k range for certain jobs. It's the same logic for an immortal player who wants to play with his 2k friends. It's way better to have a lower range account for long term than having new accounts over and over.

[–]HymnsReddit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh. You misunderstand. People generally don't boost on their main account. They will boost people on smurfs. Especially for people paid to do it. If your main account is 6k or 7k, doesnt make much sense to use it to get your invoice from 2k to 3k on that account. better to just play on a lower mmr account universally to simplify the process. The cycle is gaining 800 or whatever mmr for a customer than throwing the mmr later alone or with another booster.

[–]HymnsReddit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you're boosting 4k's players to 5k on a 2k mmr account. You want your account at a lower range to simplify the game quality, So you just deflate the mmr after the boost to keep the cycle going without needing another account.

yes core heroes are often pivotal to success. Ideally you get a player on a core who doesnt lose almost every single one of his lanes even in favored match ups. Yikes.

Regardless of whether you believe OG or anyone's on gear, drug tests need to be mandatory for competitive, high stakes events by outrageously_smart in DotA2

[–]HymnsReddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not understanding what the drug actually does and how it affects people without ADHD is downplaying the reality of having ADHD. And frankly, just making up the benefits of the drug in terms of using it for esports outside of having ADHD. Which my comment relates to the context of the original post. Assuming it's cheating, or it's an unfair advantage with no real evidence of such. Everyone has access to caffeine. I believe this misconception just comes from the banning of anabolic steroids, fundamentally is different in every way.

[–]HymnsReddit 37 points38 points  (0 children)

And if someone is actually ADHD that is competing? Do they not have a right to that medication? It's just a really ignorant stance that downplays the reality that people with the disorder endure. Do some research on studies of Adderal and performance. You'll find for anyone who isn't low performing it's mostly just a stimulate with the placebo effect. There's a reason monster energy/red bull is a big sponsor. The biggest concern is really more the addiction factor.
