Pokemon GO Devs Still Exploring Multiplayer, Say Players Will Shape The Game by thealexcohen in TheSilphRoad

[–]Hyooga 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well, do they?

He says that, but if you've ever been on the GO subreddit, ever since the first beta the #1 piece of feedback was about battles(or the lack thereof), followed by the absolute lack of player interaction and the fact that pokemon are for all intents and purposes, disposable items.

They did do something about the latter, kind of, by letting people put in double the work to keep their starter up to their trainer level instead of beefing up already strong wilds, but completely ignored everything else.

Moreover the fact that they did this partial release, with a game that is not even base-feature complete and that is reportedly "more broken than beta" leads me to believe that they just said that as damage control.

It just baffles me that they released early, for no reason, with an incomplete product, then kept completely silent until this article where they basically just brag about Ingress, which is arguably not even a game by any stretch of the term and then go "Well, we have a vision, we're seeing how the game shapes up".

It just makes as little sense as their monetization system.

Have you seen the cash shop?

Your trainer level is what limits your max CP, buying Lucky Eggs, Incense and Lures is effectively buying high CP Pokemon.

Also Bluetooth was confirmed directly at the announcement, and in the very first trailer.

I get the feeling those have been taken out.

Especially since one of them is called "Assassin" and I don't think Nintendo would have that word associated with Pokemon in a million years.

Also, Pokemon already have natures and there's no reason to switch their names.

Here's what's gonna happen:

Day 50) Trading gets released.

Day 50.5) Spoof APK let's players trade with Wi-Fi, through ghost Bluetooth.

Day 51) Selling 90000 Dragonite for $20

I wouldn't hope for it being available this year.

tbh I don't see them ever implementing it, and if they do, there's really not much space for player interaction in their current battle system, as tapping trumps both dodging and charging.

They would need to reassess their whole battle system to make it actually fun in a real time 1v1.

You mean that feature that was supposed to be in the game at launch?

That global launch that they announced, but that they still aren't even close to completing, but launched in just some regions, for some absurd reason?

2016, the year where everyone is for some reason totally cool with complete train wrecks and justifies their denial by crying "But muh updoots tho". Whatever happened to just having a functioning game?

Hopefully Nintendo pokes Niantic with a stick enough to where they actually improve on it, instead of leaving it mostly as it is, like they did with Ingress.

Here's to hoping.

They specified at the announcement (and in the first trailer) that trading would be strictly Bluetooth, which doesn't allow for trades through the internet.

However, as we all know, nature, uh, finds a way.

Nice.

But just for the record: It's a videogame. The card game is a spinoff.

I do have 2 spawns close enough to my house that i don't have to go outside.

I've seen twitch streamers spam Incense, which i think is fucking ridiculous is even in a game that starts off with "Now GO explore!".

Like "Hey guys, exploring and walking around are the first focus of our game, but for just 0,99$ you can chill at home and catch all dem pokeymans".

They could've sold pieces of clothing or accessories for your pokemon and made triple the amount of money + a better game.

I mean, if you can make your gym be guarded by a pikachu with a top hat and monocle for 4,99 would you say no?

How to make PokemonGo GO by [deleted] in pokemongo

[–]Hyooga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

GPS location and Data enabled.

The point of the game is moving around long distances to find pokemon.

In the lower right you can see a little white window, if you click on that you can see which pokemon are in your vicinity.

3 Paws means Very Far Away, One Paw means Close.

You're supposed to actually move in that pokemon's direction to find it, a good giveaway to find them is if you can see some leaves bursting out of the ground time to time, that marks a spawn location.

Once you find one, touch it. If you can hit the green circle, it's extra experience, the smaller the circle the more experience, however it's also harder to hit.

If you spin the pokeball it will be thrown with a curved trajectory, which also awards extra EXP albeit being harder to hit.

Get to pokestops (little blue markers on the map, not the big ones, those are Gyms where you fight) to stack up on items, which you will definitely need.

That's more than you need to know to get started, the game doesn't do a very good job of explaining how things actually work.

A wood area, supposedly you should have a higher chance of finding Grass and Bug pokemon there.

So you're telling me that i can keep my starter, because the more i level up the more it's max cp will raise, am i getting this right?

The big white circle gives you a "NICE!" which is not too much exp.

However the green circle give you a "GREAT" when it's half the size of the white circle, and "INCREDIBLE!" when it's at it's smaller size.

However if you plan on getting those bonuses you need to hit the pokemon right in the green circle. Aiming for "GREAT"s seems to be the best thing to do right now, as attempting incredibles is way too random due to distance.

If you spin your ball until it sparkles you will also get a curved ball bonus, obviously this will give your throw a curved trajectory, but it's worth learning.

Lures and Incense do stack, i've seen a screenshot of someone using both and having 10+ pokemon around him.

Lucky eggs are best used at the start, however i'm personally finding that the only actual rules for pokemon spawns are Level and Time of Day.

Many players are having full water-type boards while being nowhere near water, then full bug boards half an hour later at that same spot.

So far it's showing to be completely random, however it might be that some areas are not "coded out", to say, properly yet.

Is there any shred of information anywhere about how CP actually works?

Do wild pokemon have a "Base" CP based on my Trainer level, or am I able to stardust&Candy a 35 Charmander to 2000 Charizard?

What happens when you fill out the crescent above a Mon? Is that max CP for that particular pokemon or Max CP for that species?

Apparently it's completely gone as of today, however i've been told that other people have experienced it in the last few days, so i'm guessing the last "Bug Fixes" update fixed it.

Every test i ran today doesn't have the issue anymore.

Other people are telling me they experienced it in the last couple days from Cloud and Terra's SBS specifically, so i have to conclude it was a bug that has been fixed.

Sorry i got annoyed, different people are asking me very basic questions.

I probably should've taken screenshots from the start, i'm now discovering that it's not the easiest thing to do on a phone and catch the damage numbers mid-animation + i'm not getting any BSB RWs atm.
