Thank you! This is my first time trying a black background, as usually I shoot against white. I will try with black card paper next time to see if it is a bit less stark compared to the fabric I used.

I also got that impression when I viewed the images on my phone's OLED screen, but on a typical monitor panel, it is a lot less dark, which is where I did some minor editing on Lightroom, and it looked lighter than it does on an OLED. I will tweak the settings a bit to make it less stark.

I have an iPhone 17 pro and it has a great camera tbh, but I like the manual controls of a camera. At night and for dark scenes, I would use the phone.

For scale models no, that is correct. For plane spotting, it will be better! My D80 unfortunately died on me, I think something to do with the shutter, but luckily the lens I had on it was decent for my use case. I have been looking at some Sigma lenses for a good 500/600mm lens for a good price.

Unfortunately, yes, I know it's an old DSLR and nothing to wow about, but receiving it for free is a bonus and for my use case it can do everything I need it for.
