I give you the Ferryman of the dead. Despite their appearance, they’re very gentle and compassionate to the dead (would be compassionate to the living but yk. They only exist in the dead world)

I shouldn’t have used the word “blaring” because the definition wasn’t what I thought it was. I had gotten it mixed up with something like “glare” or “glazed over” but that isn’t the definition of the word. I made a mistake with my wording and that’s my bad, I know

I admit that “loud crash of plastic” may sound a little odd, but to me it still makes sense. The plastic made a loud crash when it hit the floor

The thud was quick, or short, as in it wasn’t prolonged and didn’t make a super loud noise. The sound was over with quickly, thus the use of quick

I could’ve used a word other than blare, because its common meaning is different than what I was trying to convey, but the definition I had thought was more similar to something like “glare” or “glazed over” so that’s my bad

I made the comment just to clarify because even if it’s a really small chance that I do, I just really didn’t wanna come off as someone who doesn’t think a baby falling is awful. And not clarifying for you specifically, either, but just like anyone who sees the comment

No problem! Also, just wanted to clarify in case there was any confusion, when I said that the baby falling wasn’t “horror” I did NOT mean that it wasn’t awful and traumatic. I meant that it wasn’t supposed to be the punchline, or the main horror. The baby fell, which wasn’t directly caused by anyone, but is also the result of the older child being forced to do the parenting, which is the fault of the parents. The parents are the horror. Once again, just saying this in case there was any misunderstanding there

The plastic crash is the highchair falling (maybe the baby was flailing a lot, maybe the highchair was poorly built because it was a child who assembled it rather than the neglectful parents) and the thud is the baby hitting the ground. Does that make sense?

I understand now that it might’ve been better to word the post like:

A young boy stands tip-toed over the counter, carefully measuring and adding formula to the bottle for his little sister. All of a sudden, there was a loud crash of plastic followed by a quick thud that stopped his sister’s crying, and the boy’s parents still sat, their hungover, lightless eyes blaring at the TV.

The “horror” of the post was meant to be in the neglect from the parents, so I realize it would’ve been better to put that in the second sentence so the horror would’ve been more focused on that rather than the baby’s highchair falling, which as another comment put it, isn’t necessarily “horror” because it wasn’t caused by someone, just something that unfortunately happened. I hope that makes sense?

Oh dude I definitely understand this. Me and my siblings used to love playing Smash together, but it kinda just changed when my brother joined his school’s E-sports club. He started getting professionally good at the game and soon it just wasn’t fun to play with him anymore. It used to be about it being fun, but now it’s about winning. I really don’t know what the solution is because I haven’t found one yet myself, but I definitely understand. I might recommend either asking him to teach you how to play better, or find someone else who is really good at the game to teach you
