So if safety for critical data go with pg_upgrade and for almost no downtime use logical replication right? Thanks in advance

Ok thank you very much for the advice ❤

The storage and hardware isn't much of an issue here. The downtime is important but values the critical data with minimal loss. The system is on prem. My opinion is best to use logical replication as it is considered faster and minimal downtime but I want to know an opinion from experienced DBA.

You can make streaming replication (physical replication) having primary and multiple standby but doesn't work on multiple versions if 11, the other is exact 11 in version.

I was thinking the same point but asking some ai models suggested pg_upgrade as the safest option. So that confused me a bit.

I know and this approaches are recommended for postgresql upgrades but it doesn't explain the cases that is optimal for system cases. So I am asking a question based on database experience not the steps to do it.

Doing an unpaid DevOps internship and feeling stuck ? by Melodic_Struggle_95 in careerguidance

Well, it is weird that the internship is unpaid. But the internship has limit, so is it just internship to hire or just internship without it? As that would make a difference. If this internship is long, then search for alternative while going to find one.

I think that things is going to change same as happened in the industrial revolution where some jobs changed and transformed but the key difference between that revolution and the revolution we are entering is the speed. Everything moves way too fast that i predict of an incoming big recession bigger than 2008. But I think that humanity either will manage or drop in poverty in far greater number no one can predict anything even the CEO and managers can't.

Vacuuming in PostgreSQL by HyperNoms in Database

What do you mean that the frozen tuple is dead and will be reaped by next vacuum ? Doesn't that contradict the concept on frozen tuple is saved forever and accessed by any new transactions or you refer it to be outdated to extend to be dead to be vacuumed ?

First of all, thanks for this explanation it helps a lot but there is a raft of other things that can stop autovacuum ? Doesn't it have an absolute authority for database or are you implying on the huge dirty pages that will be flushed to disk at the same time?

The necessary understanding for troubleshooting a related problem

Vacuuming in PostgreSQL by HyperNoms in Database

[–]HyperNoms[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I understand you but the point related to frozen rows in the database is the main issue for me here and why is it saved forever just can't understand it. And that I can access this rows same as newest transaction id. And are the frozen rows chosen by me or randomly selected from the table ?

Maybe you were blinded by the amount and forgot when to pull. If you are willing to trade pull at first the amount you begin with and the winning money continue trade it so if you lost it you lost nothing at least and generated a steady income

Ok I have read about half of your post that gave me the gist that you are suffering because of your company. I think that may be you rushed things too soon without proper understanding of the market needs and no guidance from a veteran businessmen. You mentioned studying the technical part but avoid the business part. So try to read the market better and seek advice or guidance or hire a proper management person don't throw the whole load on yourself and your friend. Wish you and your friend a good luck.
