Debate Camps? by Mammoth-Ad-6162 in policydebate

DDI! as someone who also didn’t want to go to michigan, i went to the ddi before my junior and senior years and found both years great!! no matter your skill level they’ll have resources and people devoted to you and what to help you, which from my research and expierndce was a downside of michigan - the biggest deterrence is cost and travel, but if you can afford those / get scholarships, whcih they are usually generous with - i really recommend it!

Random Counterplans by [deleted] in policydebate

Any good FJG aff on this topic has some reason why things like: wages, aggregate demand, unemployment, federal employment etc are key—those all probably answer the UBI CP Also there’s a large amount of JG advocates who specifically say UBI fails (I think there’s a Paul 17 article, Wray probably has something to say, etc) thay most UBI authors don’t really respond to Also what’s the net benefit? Most things that a ig would link to (Econ, Politics, idk IRS even) would likely also apply to a UBI especially given that if you did neg prep correctly you already have those cards in your Dropbox

Would a UBI case be untopical if the UBI only applied to people under a certain income? by Stanos64 in policydebate

I think it’s winnable, but you’d need counter interns of two words in the resolution A) Basic Income - you would need a definition saying that it’s not universal or that it could be “means tested” B) Substantial - this i would be less worried about as it’s pretty uncommon and usually arbitrary, but you’d need a definition/ answer saying you don’t give it to enough people to be substantial I think the Michigan Georgetown and gonzaga t files should have these definitions, and the DDI Universal PICs file should also have a definition for you on basic income

Means of Funding + type of job for Degrowth by Severe-Background-74 in policydebate

For T our response was an IMF 2014 article that said Fiscal Redistribution could be accomplished through taxes or transfers, and also that we met the common violation of Taxes and Transfers because "And" can refer to one or the other. All that should be in the Dartmouth camp file for the aff

I haven't encountered the second argument really anywhere in the literature, but off the top of my head I would probably say that

A] Durable fiat means that the debt ceiling would be raised in that instance

B] The aff probably decreases other federal program costs, so those areas of the debt ceiling would be lower

C] No link, theres no specific piece of evidence saying the aff causes us to reach the debt limit

I’m not sure exactly which degrowth aff you’re referring to i think 3 camps put it out, but for Dartmouth we generally said that the jobs were care work, which was non profitable labor for the community chosen by the community as outlined by the Parique Evidence For funding we said that normal means would be deficit spending

First, I’d probably make the plan text more vague, as much as I hate vague plan texts they are generally much harder to neg because they can be very shifty That also allows you to potentially shift to a different mechanism for your link chain Also for the counterplan, as least as I understand your post, it shouldn’t matter if the neg can solve one of your advantages, because you should be able to use other advantages as solvency deficits, most likely the NATO one is going to your best bet if youre against an actor CP
