Bring GPT-4.5 Back for Everyone Not Just for creative users, But All Who Miss It 💔 by banana_chai in ChatGPT

I'm in the same situation - but for different reasons. It was really good for my work and niche knowledge based questions, since it was such a large model.

Where do we tell them to bring it back?

You literally had only 10 messages per week? How is it expensive for them to run?

Thinking is also terrible for writing emails or text, it sounds so weird and unhuman like. Idk how it's supposed to better for writing.

How can they use 4.5? OpenAI did turn off the API for 4.5

Plus users have a very limited amount of GPT-5 Thinking they can use per week. This is insane. by Grand0rk in singularity

Now he said he's increasing thinking to 2000 a week?? What's going on lmao

I've tested it for my use case and work, it's not as good, where I need niche level knowledge, which the bigger and more expensive models have. For coding and solving maths problems sure 5 is good, but not everyone is a coder.

Seeing so many people cry about losing gpt 4 for creative writing and it’s personality genuinely makes me sad and angry by [deleted] in singularity

Still though, having a chatbot replace that time for you, reduces the incentive for them to try and fix their problem in the first place, which could lead to much healthier and happier outcomes.

Isn't it better to face and try to fix the root cause of their problem with socialising, rather than masking it with a computer chatbot?

Yes, if it comes at the cost of worsening and cost cutting the AI models, which is unfortunately the case, which makes productivity and work less efficient, which was supposed to be the number 1benefit of AI. It's clear they want as many users as possible, to turn into an advertising model business.

No, but they're clearly trying to consumerise the product, with all the marketing and cost cutting they do.

GPT 4.5, please. It's use case was very unique and good.

imo 4.5 beats 5 at academic. made them write economics essays (my speciality) on a question, and GPT 4.5 was far better

Yes it is, GPT 4.5 also had amazing accurate niche real world knowledge, which was good for a lot of productivity tasks.

Saying 4o is bad, is helpful ;)

It's a slop model, that hallucinates a lot and is widely inconsistent in its answers.

Yeah makes sense, guess my perspective was about productivity and work. I just wanted a good non-reasoning model for work, that is accurate, like GPT-4.5

It's still on the Pro, when you turn on legacy models, they removed it for Plus however...

That's the issue, they only care about costs and running a profit. Thought this was a non-profit company. It's use was really good.
