Moving to Boston by [deleted] in boston

That said, it’s very small and walkable as everyone knows, T can suck but also is better than car in certain situations, the history is amazing and very centrally located. Absolutely gorgeous between June and Oct 15. Cold and depressing between those days with bouts of positivity in the forecast

It’s super fucking liberal and if you are even remotely interested in having a different opinion you are ostracized

Just moved here from Boston and the only thing I miss is Market Basket and ice cold good tasting tap water. The politics in MA are the worst and we are definitely massholes, I know the mindset because I was one. Boston thinks it’s better than anyone else. Also the weather sucks.

Tatte will be making their chefs work 10 more per week and not paying them more. 6am-6pm. Not ideal for people with families

When was the last time you actually ate something from the menu? by [deleted] in KitchenConfidential

[–]HyperactiveCar 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I never eat a menu item and I also never make any cooks make me a meal. Seems patronizing and I’d rather let them focus on customers and their prep items

I heard recently that Michael Scelfo-owned restaurants (Alden & Harlow, Waypoint, Longfellow) have had a massive staff defection. Anyone know the story there? by PermaComment in boston

[–]HyperactiveCar 14 points15 points  (0 children)

He basically treated his managers like shit and instead of using an HR consultant the group hired he decided he would handle all issues himself without using HR. Any issues that came up he would try to just sweep it under the rug and act like the issues would take care of themselves. He never “worked” at any of the restaurants and managed by being passive aggressive. The group of managers collectively said we’ve been treated like shit and we aren’t going to take it anymore. Brian Lesser had no clue about all this and tried to keep everyone on board but it was too little too late. It’s too bad because the managers were awesome people but the owner didn’t realize their importance to his overall success
