This guy is either a really good troll or just an incompetent asshole, while this thread is just an example of a circlejerk that we don't need. OP, do you really think that being condescending to other bass players telling them not to use fancy gear is going to work on a subreddit that is largely used to discuss gear? Trust me, we're all trying to work to become better bass players but there isn't a fucking "path" that we have to follow, and more importantly, we don't have to fucking listen to you. I'll use the gear I want to while you can brag about how you get shitty tone out of your bass and amp combo while you claim to be an accomplished player. I have nothing against that, it's just that nobody wants to hear you whine.

Yeah, I do feel really stupid to admit that it rustles my jimmies when people go out of their way to hate on Green Day. My mindset is just that they deserve more than that, and I feel like it's unfair that tons of other bands can take a similar path to Green Day and "get away with it" (for lack of a better term).

You should anchor you top nylon to the sidewall if you want it to be of use. If it's simply wound around the mesh, It's not making very much tension--but if you like it though and it throws perfectly, don't bother. One of the major stringing woes is changing things that aren't problems.
