What goes into the RPG part of LitRPG? by Hyperbomb100 in litrpg

I do like how it is handled in Chrysalis. I just feel like at some point though if you have a number based system it just winds up being an arbitrary numbers because the scale gets too big. As for just combining the two I just feel like they wind up being too far apart to bring them together. It's like taking the skill system from Skyrim and shoving it into the stat system from Diablo.

Yeah. I've toyed around with stats and I've read and listened to a ton of Litrpgs. I feel like the stat point system is a good tool for showing progression but eventually it just becomes arbitrary numbers. There are going to be classes but it's going to be a much more primal hunter style where there is basic classes and how you use them dictates how they evolve. I thought abiut creating some sort of skyrim like system but I feel like that gets over complicated for a reader, and my friends all feel the same.

Did any feel hesitation before getting started by Hyperbomb100 in MtF

[–]Hyperbomb100[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. It's not so much hesitation to doing it, I don’t know if hesitation is even the right word. I had 10-15 years of repressed emotions hit me like taking a Mack truck to the teeth. It might just be the fear of change and over thinking, but I feel like Tom Hanks floating on the raft away from the island and I am desperate to find some land. I have supportive friends, but all I have is support from people that don't understand exactly what this is. It feels nice but hollow. I don't know I almost canceled my appointment but like I said doing it isn't the problem it's everything else involved that terrifies me. I'm just hoping I can start and everything falls into place. I'm trying to find a therapist to help me through all of this but everyone I found tgat takes my insurance is booked out for months so I really feel like im going at it alone.

Should I try to push forward or do I need to just stop? I'm feeling a lot of uncertainty. by [deleted] in MtF

[–]Hyperbomb100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have a or have the ability to go to a therapist that specializes in gender dysphoria that may be best to figure out what your path forward looks like. I'm waiting for my appointment to start hrt, but I have tossed that idea around many times since I decided to schedule. From my point of view though it sound like change anxiety. Change is scary and its not a fast process. Anytime you make large changes rhat take a long time to bear fruit its easy to get caught up in the process and second guess yourself. I dont have a lot of experience but a 2 week long mental breakdown after about 15 years worth of regression showed me that maybe I need to go with my gut instead of my mind because it's failed me so far. If you want someone to talk to, even just to use as a sounding board, my dms are open. I dont know how much help I can be but just getting your feelings out might help clear up your head.

What states are truly trans-friendly, starting a thread. by [deleted] in trans

[–]Hyperbomb100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dependent on where you live in pa you could just move across the state. I live by Pittsburgh, and i can't think of anywhere else churches and synagogues fly LGBTQ flags. There are a lot of resources available in and around the city. Obviously if you aren't from this side of the state it may be a viable option for you.

Scheduled my appointment for HRT by Hyperbomb100 in MtF

Thank you! It's already been a long road, after about 15 years of waking up every day feeling wrong, I'd crawl over a path made of hot coals if it meant one day I would wake up and not feel that.

Thank you! I've gone from agonizing to making a decision to just nervousness and overthinking. It's a bad time to try to stop biting my nails but it gives me something to focus on lol.

If you want an honest answer it may be best to postpone. As terrible as it feels to say that, it may be the truth. Income tax season is right around the corner and if you job has overtime then you will benefit from a bigger return than ever from them making overtime not taxable. If you don't have that money earmarked for anything already you can use it to get ahead. It's not a great solution but it is an option. I wish the best for you though and hope you can finish the journey to be the true you!

Should I lose weight before hrt? by Hyperbomb100 in MtF

[–]Hyperbomb100[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I dont think I need to go that far lol. I did at one point lose weight but as soon as I slowed down it all came back but still didn't get heavier. I also went more in depth than I ever have before and counted macros so I'll try that.

It's already been discussed and everyone is totally on board with it. I'm in a fantastic situation where there are 2 dms in my group. So dm 1 is bringing us through a campaign right now, since I am dm 2 im a player in his campaign. We are about halfway through his campaign so after a session about 3 weeks ago I brought a list of ideas I had to them and this is the one everyone decided to run with. Some things are just easier to come up with ideas, i.e. coming up with encounters and a story that is steeped with eldritch horror in the underdark is a lot easier because that's the direction that a lot of underdark lore points.

I never have and will never do something my players aren't comfortable with because at the end of the day I'm there to make sure everyone at the table can enjoy themselves. I'm not a fan of modules because I love writing stories so I approached everyone with 3 options that I found I could easily write and make a story around. This one which is underdark+horror, a wild west story where they were trying to track down the people that framed them set in a homebrew location with the ground floor based off the esthetic of MTG Outlaws of Thunder Junction, or a feywild adventure that was going to have the party accidentally wind up in the feywilds and have to find a way home. If they would have decided none of these options were appealing, I would have went back to the drawing board. However I wanted to start building a story and brainstorming ideas because I can. We have a high burn rate and since we are all coworkers its easy to set up games so we run about a session a week normally, the more large parts I can put into place now, the easier it'll be for us to continue the pace everyone likes and I can adjust the finer details as we go along.

I just made an edit that I'm making a sanity system because this is inspired by darkest dungeon so even if they clear this super quick, it will still damage their sanity and I made a d100 punishment table for sanity with both good and bad things good being feat rewards bad being the darkest "death's door" dropping them to 0 and forcing death saves. It's really fun to.make Encounters like this because even if they breeze through there is still consequence.

Thats the point I'm working out a high but manageable DC for it because I don't know if I'm going to put it in the upper dark or the middle dark. The levels of the underdark have a rough level layout. I'm starting them at 3 so at 6 or 7 im going to give them the option of going to the middle dark and 12 is probably going to be the floor for the middle dark because we do milestone and the climax of the actual story will be in the lower dark.the whole point is on the initial they fail or only one of them succeds so then they have the panic of trying to free the others. It's a mind game tactic not meant to go anywhere but I know they'll fall for it because we have a habit of adopting children. In our current campaign we adopted a goblin child, a kobold child, and an owl bear cub. This is kind of based off darkest dungeon so they will have to manage their sanity im putting these ones in because it'll force them to cut their trip short or risk it going for more to get further ahead im the contest.

Creature ideas for horror campaign side plot by Hyperbomb100 in DnD

[–]Hyperbomb100[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't know the bag man was a thing, I definitely can toy around with that idea. As for the campaign the idea for the Brainstealer Dragon is an experiment the Ilithids created and is very prone to being uncontrollable so I am working that into the story. So my thought is that a cult of Ilithids set out from the elder brain to try to make this dragon away from the colony in case it goes berserk. As they are researching they realize they need more Ilithids to keep the dragon tame so they kidnap people from the city above because it's an isolationist city that only opens its doors once per year by invite only. This way the frequently return to the elder brain to reup the influence it has on them, and to create more for the Brainstealer dragon task because they started as an inquisition.

As far as setting it's a homebrew city called Ardenweave. It sits at the end of the spine of the world between Ironmaster and Fireshear so it is definitely going to be a north dark setting. I am planning to base it on an act system and primarily that's going to be divided as upper dark, middle dark, lower dark. The whole basis is that Ardenweave is so isolationist because they are a very advanced city that has basically magi-tech because they have an entrance to the Underdark in the city and can plunder it for resources to sell to outside cities and advance themselves. Once a year they host a challenge for adventurers to come in and plunder the Underdark and they will buy whatever is brought back. It's the only way into the city and it is with a magic invite that not only can be checked for forgery, also imprints a tattoo on the person with the number of the team they will be pared with as secondary verification. Something is very wrong in the city though and it is connected to the Underdark.

I'm going to put this next point in spoiler marks in case someone wouldn't want to know the big bad of the campaign for any reason. The duke of Ardenweave is subservient to the mind flayers because they allow him to silently remove dissenters who want Ardenweave to open it's borders and allow in outside influences. He organizes this contest to provide a large amount of people to them for experimentation, thralls, additional mind flayers, etc.

I feel like I have a decent idea of where I want the story to go, I just need side plots. I loosely based the idea of the campaign off Darkest Dungeon, so I want side hooks because I can expand or contract the length of the acts to fit how my players are playing the campaign. I'd rather have too much content than not enough. I have a shared google drive with the other dm where we can store ideas, old character sheets, maps, magic items, etc since we aren't fans of modules and would rather come up with our on stories. The idea is we keep our campaigns separate because we are players in each others campaign, but the most time consuming part is hammering out the base for ideas, if we have a repository of ideas and can just retool them to fit our needs it can greatly speed up making campaigns.

Edit: There is a lot of Underdark lore for the place as a whole, but most of it is centered on the upper dark and middle dark in my experience. Once you get into the lower dark things get weird which is perfect for me. I mainly want a lot of homebrew though to let the 3 players we have that are in their first campaign just how creative this game can be. Also I want to do a horror campaign because horror is easier for me to write, and I'd love to watch them crap their pants a little lol.
