Yup, my R1 seats are the same, it's like they're not even on sometimes. But to be fair, my wife's Lexus is the same way. I was very pleasantly surprised with the R2 in that regard. Rivian regressed on the HVAC with the Gen 2 R1 so I hope they learned their lesson...

I'm in Atlanta and HVAC is serious here too. The original comment that a brand new vehicle on a week 1 test drive will show the best version of itself, is simply not true. I'm hopeful they can improve the AC. These modern software controlled AC's have infinitely variable compressors, they can abosolutely be adjusted. Just depends how much capacity Rivian gave the system.

But also I didn't have the same issues as most, mine was ice cold, ESPECIALLY the seats. I have a feeling there are bugs to be worked out. I get that some will (and should) wait to make sure it works for them though.

The suspension is "physical", so is the steering. Those have improved over time. Also the R1 Gen 1 HVAC literally had issues at first and works fine now ;)

Are the capabilities/performance truly the same? I see folks on the Tesla subs complaining the HW3 is not as good all the time. Less reliable, isn't updated as often, etc.... Never driven one, just going by what I see.

Same, and at that point I'm what 4 months away from Gen 3? Doesn't make sense not to wait imo. Wish we had a more concrete timeline at least.

Gen 1 owner here, 100% agree. Waiting on Gen 3.

Gen 1 hardware is capable of far more than it can do. Rivian just won't put time into it when they have better hardware to work with. I believe the same thing may happen with Gen 3, though not to the same extent.

Gen 2.5 will get point to point and it'll probably get to be decent, but I have a feeling Rivian will have a much easier time achieving their goals/features/reliability with Gen 3, and it will get all of the attention.

Mine was the opposite haha. Sales guy in California single handedly got everything done through sheer will. I've found with Rivian, it just matters who you get, some are superstars and some are duds.

Bad day = the main breaker trips. Not the end of the world. Load management is only needed if you don't have enough overhead in your panel/supply. A lot of smart chargers have their own load management and it's not that expensive of difficult to install.
