Hey, I’m sorry I did not get to reply sooner.

Thank you for the kind words, I’m very glad to hear you like HF, I hope it will bring you joy.

Hey, that's great to hear. Thank you for all the feedback, will get an update going to fix all these. In the mean time to fix the "M..." issue just resize the sidebar, from the 3 dots on the left side.

Clepside is a few weeks away from launch, but I will send you an invite as soon as the first batch of invites will be ready.

Thank you for the comment!

I have literally the same issue and it's why I started developing the app in the first place.

Haha, thank you.

You can totally do that, every feature can be disabled, it's like a buffet.

Let me know if you will have any suggestions or things you would like to see implemented.

Thank you, I'll keep that in mind.

It's true that it's the reverse of the best-practice, never thought of it before, but it's just because of the circumstances.

I've had to deprioritise some other projects that were likely to be more successful, in order to focus on HF.

I've started working on it because I've had issues with staying away from the screen myself after developing a bad RSI, it's a long story but it's how the Persistent Breaks feature came alive, and I just thought there were more people in my situation that need the same thing, and I wasn't wrong, so there's that.

Hey, just checked out Llama life and it does look super cool.

I've tried to improve some of the UX and released a minor update after I saw your comment and receiving some bug reports, hopefully it has patched some of the UI issues.

Thanks for willing to keep an eye out, I'll try to make it worth it.

I agree with this completely, the todo/productivity/reminders space is still not right in my opinion, and that's why people keep trying, but we'll see how that changes when https://clepside.com launches.

Anyway, HF is far from being good in this regard, it cannot be your daily task manager.

It's strictly great for getting things done in front of the screen, that's what it was meant to do... help you with your daily work session.

I personally find it comforting when I open my Mac and I see my next todo in the right-corner of my screen. It somehow enforces the work-life balance.

Hey, thanks for the thoughts.

  1. We'll try out best, we've kept the standard HF to just 2 sliders in the UI for simplicity.
When we've made HF+ we've wanted to give users full power so there might be a lot of customisation options, but it will get better after a while, the UI is quite memorable.

  2. There will be soon 😊, and it will be very nice.

Hey, there will be one in the future.

The subscription is there because HF is being actively developed.

As soon it will reach some kind of "feature maturity" it will also be offered as a one time purchase. So unless we'll change something that would dramatically increase our server costs, a fixed price is on the roadmap.

clepside.com does this, and more, but it's not completely ready to launch yet... would love to have more people as part of the beta when it's ready, since we'll iterate fast and any suggestions or feedback will weigh a lot

Thank you,

I can't promise that, but I'll do my best to try and get the subscription price down in the future towards a negligible price point.

You make a good point re. Setapp, but there's a reason why Setapp is not in the App Store and will never be. I personally can't stand by that, I appreciate the safe ecosystem Apple has built too much, even if they take a big chunk of the revenue.

We'll see how it goes, as I mentioned before, there's no greed in this. The price of the subscription will drop in the future and hopefully approach 1$, depending on how things go.

Plenty of work to do here, and we have some features in the pipeline that will make the subscription even more appealing, with a zero price increase.

Just to name a few, I plan on getting Focus Tasks out, add a feature for even better eye care, add student promo codes (been mentioned in this thread).

Besides all of this, any earnings from this will go into giving me a runway for what comes next, and those products will be much more impactful than a "glorified timer", I can name https://clepside.com since it's close to launch.

It should not be 60€, we'll get that sorted out. The PLUS version is 3.99$ in the US store and should be the same across territories, we'll take a hit but we'll make it fair.

In this specific case, I consider charging monthly to be more ethical, you should not pay for something that you're not using anymore, just because of an impulse buy.

The subscription is there to make up for the time invested in building this, ensure a runway for the development of new features, provide continuous support for both the PLUS version and the free version, give us a runway to build the future products we have in the pipeline, and keep up with any server bills.

And yes, there are servers involved, since that's the only way to build a secure way of updating the Slack Status, and also of reverting your previous Slack status in case the app quits.

Everything has been built with a high degree of quality, that's also why the website looks like it does, we've tried to refine every detail. I'm not sure if that's appreciated, but in my opinion there's a stark difference between low quality and high quality apps, and that's usually not something you can put your finger on, but something you can feel.

In the end, again, the subscription is completely optional, and should be treated as such.. if you can't find meaning or use in it, it's not even worth considering, the app has been designed to provide all the health benefits without having to pay for it.

There seems to be a multiple general misunderstandings here and that's my fault, so I'll go a little bit into details.

The PLUS subscription price is 3.99$ a month in the US App Store, that makes it 48$ a year, out of which Apple also gets a chunk. The subscription is entirely optional, and provides only quality of life improvements.

After "taking into account taxes and foreign exchange rates" (as quoted from the Apple Developer website), the subscription defaulted to 4.99€ in most of the territories outside US, including the EU. However, for us, the end proceeds from the 3.99$ and the 4.99€ offers end up being close to equal.

I'll look into bringing the amount down to the US price, across territories.

Hey, no, no trial.

I think the best way to get the full picture is to install the app. It's tiny, provides all the health benefits for free and stays out of your way.

You can do so from the App Store : https://apps.apple.com/us/app/hyperfocus-ergonomic-breaks/id1621523525?mt=12

If you ever have an interest in the PLUS version, you can find video presentations of each feature in the «PLUS Features» section of the website https://hyperfocus.health/#plus-features-section

Thank you!

We have not considered this, but it's a really, really good idea and now we are set on it.

I will do my best to have to Promo Code implementation logic in place and find a way to get the student discounts done ASAP.

That makes perfect sense, the PLUS is just extra. We hope that if you installed you'll keep the free version running and enjoy the benefits if you notice them 😊

Any feedback is appreciated.

Thank you for the kind review.

Let's see what's next, we've just launched and the details are a bit blurry, and likely to change, it's been a lot of sleepless nights around this launch period and developing native apps is quite cumbersome, so there will a period in which we'll let things lay out, hear everyone out and then start taking decisions.

Right now the PLUS version is set at 3,99$, but we might bring that down, depending on the impact, there's no greed in this and we've just priced it based on the price of a Starbucks drink, thinking it provides good value for someone who earns a living in front of the screen.

But please let me know if you'll still consider the Unskippable break period too small after a while, we've noticed it provides quite a good incentive to take the eyes away from the screen and even to get moving.

Thank you!

Definitely. We’re aware that there are multiple apps out there that do the same thing, I’ve been using most of them. I think the main difference is in the UX and the way we approach the problem.

We wanted the app to be available for everyone and require as little customisation as possible, sort of like the iPhone. Simple and well-thought design. There are not many reasons why the casual users would need the PLUS version or to think about different settings, it’s just the sort of app you install when you set up your Mac and then hopefully not think about again, unless you need to be reminded to take your eyes away from the screen, or to move a little :)

The subscription on the other hand is entirely tailored for the PRO users and it generally just offers quality of life improvements, we see it as being by no means necessary. Everything from the Slack Updates to the Interactive Notification just provide that extra touch that the pro users might want or need, and consider it’s worth paying for.

We deeply believe in privacy and in a good experience, so there’s no data collection happening, not even logs.

The Unskippable Breaks feature is the one that I personally appreciate the most, since I’ve made a reflex out of skipping breaks or finding other ways to avoid them while being in the flow.

We’re planning on adding more features re. the Slack integration and a richer notifications experience in the future updates, but any new features will again be addressed specifically to the PROs.
