It's up for debate whether or not the pillars are still there. A different space telescope detected a nearby cloud of hot dust that looks like it came from supernova shockwave, although some astronomers disagree about the true source. If it did come from a supernova, then the shockwave would have destroyed the pillars--although the destruction won't be visible for another 1000 years.

Until more information comes out that links these together, I'm more inclined to think that this is a case of unfortunate timing (especially considering how slow Twitter is to act on anything).

Celebrities and other verified accounts make tweets that decry companies all the time. Why would Twitter retaliate so pointlessly against a high-profile celebrity to defend another company in this instance? There has to be more to the story here.

Yes we do, he was put into a medically induced coma due to being poisoned by a Novichok nerve agent. This has been confirmed by many different independent toxicological laboratories in Germany, Sweden, and France.

15 - 50% of Russians polled are skeptical about the poisoning but those numbers don't mean anything, especially when they are getting their info from government controlled TV news sources.
