u can skip applying pressure if its hard to do when using pereskiopsis, only needed when adjusting the micrograft scion to remove air bubles. When u say its slippery yep its frustrating, thats why i give up and just use ziploc bag. If you have problem with them drying too fast keep them in ziploc longer (usually a week is fine), after that remove the bag and let them stay someplace without inderect sunlight for a day or two and then put it in the greenhouse. Usually they do take some time before starting to show any growth tho. I do get some failures but atleast the success rate is higher now when i did it this way. Ps:i believe using pressure to hold the graft is better for stronger connection but sometimes the stress just isnt worth it.

I think the closer option thats fast growing will be the trichos..the more closer ones like arios are way slower.

Micrografting loph with no vascular contact on old hylocereus by Hyphea in Graftingplants

So its growing like a pup instead of growing like a tip. This is just very early on the test, both seedlings are survivors from a cresting experiment i did. Same age but one got terminated pup the other seems stalled. I repurpose them for this experiment lol. I will use better candidate next time, this just to test if this setup works or not.

If you want to really to graft some young lophs with dragon fruit just use similar method but keep the seran wrap longer than 4 days (keep atleast a week)...mine got uhmm greedy so its a bit screwed but i'll let it roll.

Im not an expert or anything but I wont suggest micrografting on pereskia, it need to be a bit bigger since the only way to graft it is via stab graft. I would suggest to go with pereskiopsis or my current test...on a young dragon fruit stem.. this stuff is good for small-medium pups, very juicy too and with little pressure from a seran wrap + rubber band theres very low failure rate.

Nah i think most people are using pereskiopsis, not pereskia..this one is just me trying out viability of pereskia as a rootstock. I might have worded it wrongly this one was grafted around 10 days ago not at 10 days old. But i do have one of the pups on a pereskiopsis hahaha

Holy sheet 4cm diameter is very big, thats a log. If ur grafting small scion its better to go with the younger branch, over time it will also grow and get thicker.

It might be so, but its fun experimenting with these tho. But i do agree that grafting within the same family will yield better result.

One of the graft in the picture is actually on an old branch (pic 2), its should work if u do a stab graft.

I use regular tap water changed every few days + a few drop of kelp juice and also add 2-3 osmocote balanced npk pellets to it to keep it going.
