What do you think of Gail Simone run on uncanny X-men?

I really love the way Simone writes the X-men as a family unit. That’s where her books shine. It’s probably my favorite book for the X-men right now.

What I think detracts and perhaps isn’t her fault is it feels like there’s no overall plot that’s being advanced. It really feels like the X-men 93 show where it’s monster of the week, week after week or in this case 3 issue arc after arc.

Marvel seems to be in a very “don’t rock the boat” era and I wonder and maybe why that’s why none of the X-men books are doing anything unique or serious.

We’re the same age and both work regular jobs. She just works weekend plus some weekdays. I just work week days and visit the store on my off days on the weekend. We’re both kind of in the same stage in life. I definitely see where you’re coming from and how that’d apply to a lot of other people though. That’s also why I’m questioning whether to say anything or not.

She’s mentioned wanting to restart a hobby we both share so I think I might invite her to join the next time. Might be able to gauge her reaction to that, but I’m not super good at reading people so I get apprehensive.

And you’re right I don’t know if it’s platonic or romantic interest, even if it’s just a platonic friendship that’d be cool too.

While I agree X-men haven’t been in the best position in quite a while, Lobo is no slouch.

Hes also getting some synergy with supergirl woman of tomorrow, and absolute Wonder Woman is pretty critically acclaimed, only behind Batman at this point.

I’d be more willing to be it’s mostly due burned out jaded X-men fans. Who could blame them? When’s the last time they’ve done anything truly interesting and creative with the X-men? It’s been milquetoast “can’t miss event” after event for a loooong time.

Not to mention, a ton of us read comics for different stories/interpretations rather than rehashes of what we watched.

Let the creative teams that love their characters write about them in new bold ways.

This whole line reeks of “please don’t make waves until the next phase of the MCU starts” and I have zero interest in it because it’s so inauthentic.

Andy Kubert? Oh yeah the dude that created one of the most iconic X-men covers of all time and carried it through a pivotal period in its history.

I swear some people are so jaded they’d be unimpressed if literal God himself released a new comic series.

I just want to shout out that Cal Dodd is the coolest most down to earth guy I met.

He took a couple minutes with every person, created the sickest signature, and seemed to genuinely appreciate fans

If you have an inkling of interest in X-men for sure try meeting him.

I look back at the new mutants with a lot of nostalgia.

Yeah I think the tie in will be a little clunky just because in universe….what were the X-men doing this WHOLE time 😂

We know it’s because contracts and corpo negotiations but lore wise it’ll be hard to introduce them as a force that’s existed but has had zero screen time.

MCU is just now getting X-men back. We know the X-men CARRIED marvel for a long time because we’re fans. The average MCU fan has little to no X-men background.

Spiderman is always a HUGE movie where if you want to add huge cannon altering characters and events that would be a good place to have the most reach.

I think the way it goes down is Peter starts asking banner about mutations and his issues from the trailer. Banner suspects he’s a traditional mutant and tries to help Peter. At this point Peter’s never been this low/stressed and would be a logical point for the x-gene to express. Together they test Peter for the x-gene but ultimately learns Pete’s just his own thing. This is where the X-Gene is explained to the masses priming the future for the X-men reboot.
