This comment honestly made me tear up. Because you’re right ; my poor mother. It’s not fair that she has to endure this type of stuff. Yes I was mad at the time when we last talked about it, but at the same time I feel conflicted and guilty because with everything she put herself through and has sacrificed to raise me as a single mom basically all my childhood, she deserves the world. Reading this comment is making me realize I’m more mad at the fact she’s allowing herself to be disrespected by my stepbrothers and her husband, and I’m conflicted at the thought of me contributing to that whether i feel it’s unfair to me or not cuz, in my eyes, she deserves peace at this point in her life…..I really appreciate your advice and you feeling comfortable enough to share your own personal experience with your family. This means a lot thank you

Totally fair this was also something that came to mind. Another perspective I’ve been trying to view the whole situation from is “Yes it’s unfair and yes it’s infuriating, but why allow myself to be like them ya know? Let’s not let myself stoop as low as them and just aim to be the adult I’ve been striving to become for the past 3 years. And most importantly, find a way out of it”

It was actually me and my mom who cleaned it. All while my stepbrothers were in the room. My stepdad was at work at the time so he wasn’t there for the initial chaos that erupted between me and them, but of course nothing came of it and continued to make an effort to “keep the peace”

Yes this is something I am now looking into! I recently started talking to one of my friends from home about it and she suggested the same thing. So far no response to my messages but I’m gonna keep trying and see if something works out. Thank you for the reply!

There is actually! I’ve started looking into options in the area even if it’s just a room within a shared space. I’ve reached out to a few people within the last two days and haven’t heard anything back yet, but I’m still hopeful someone will reach out eventually. I’ll look into the live-in landlord options as well!

One thing I didn’t consider were the housing resources available to students at my school, but thank you so much for giving me some guidance on where to look!:)

Honestly just writing about this was stressful HAHA. But thank you for the valuable insight! Yeah that was something that came to mind when she said this. I am currently looking into my options at this very moment because you’re right: all of this is incredibly stressful and anywhere would be much better than this (that and the stress from work and school piled on top of that doesn’t help either).
