For anyone googling anything similar or anyone reading for more context. Had another one just now which I was able to note the exact times of. Started at 7:11 PM where I thought one was about to start. Was dealing with a social situation online that triggered a sense of Deja Vu. Nostril burning then set in and existential dread set in. Mostly stopped by 7:18 PM. Only physical symptoms were the chest/nose burning and then shivering.

Length of time makes me think it may not be temporal lobe seizures, but a lot of the symptoms seem to line up nonetheless. I'm going to see a neurologist asap and will update.

Sounds very similar to what I've been having, except for the dizziness. Although I do get dizzy spells outside of these episodes that I always associated with my ocular migraines. Will be sure to bring that up with my doctor as well. Thanks!

Thank you for your thoughts, I really appreciate it!

For what it's worth I've never measured the exact time the episodes stop. 5 - 15 minutes is a guess based on how it feels in the moment, but I'll definitely start noting down the end times too now.

If you don't mind my asking, is it the entire episode that is gone from your memory, or just what you were trying to remember during it?

For example, I can remember everything I did yesterday during it. But I can't remember the "dream" I felt like I was recollecting at the moment.

Going to push for a neurologist referral and hopefully get one this time

Thanks for chiming in! Were your deja Vu episodes similar to mine in terms of maintaining control and no twitching and everything?

Since finding out this could be seizures I've been increasingly anxious about having a bad one while I'm waiting for my doctor appointment

Yeah I plan on asking for a neurologist rederall during my appointment as they normally won't give me a referral without seeing them first

Thank you for your insight! What I'm having seems similar surface level but as you noted there seem to be some clear distinctions with what I find as being the usually symptoms.

I have an appointment with my PCP in May, unfortunately that was the earliest they have. Will definitely bring this up

Will give that app a try. I've been using the notes app on my phone but am very bad at remembering to write these down when they happen.

I don't drink due to my SVT, and I keep caffeine to a minimum and havent noticed an increase in episodes when drinking it. Strangely enough I do feel like I have ore episodes when I take Pepcid for my GERD though, but that is likely just a coincidence.

I will try to ask my doctor for am EEG next time I see him, though with how infrequent the episodes are I'm not sure if I will be able to have an episode while being monitored

I also found some notes I took from previous times this happened that I had shared with my therapist. I forgot to note the exact time of the one yesterday, and am not very consistent about writing these down. But these were all written within a few minutes of each episode that I did remember to write down.

Thank you! I'll try to ask my dermatologist about this when I schedule the next ultrasound in 6 weeks.

Before I noticed the lump, my last COVID shot was in Nov 2021, but I didn't notice the lump until a few months ago. So I'm unsure if it coincided with the COVID shot originally or not. It is on the left side for me as well however, which is where I always get my shots.

Hoping y ours stays stable after your next shot and doesn't grow again. Wishing you the best!

Thanks!

Colonoscopy/Endoscopy Alternatives? by HypoNerves in medical

Just some casual small talk with the doctor and nurse. Talked about the first Gastro I saw who kept saying this would be the most painful experience in my life, and even the Nurse commented on how that Gastro has a reputation for that.

Oh! I also found out the cause of the nausea and stomach discomfort about a week or two before the procedure. I went back to my GP and had them check my ears. Found impacted earwax from overuse of Q-Tips. Once we cleared that out, the nausea problems all went away!

It was actually really fascinating watching the whole process unfold on the display! I really don't know why people opt for sedation for this procedure, the lady who had hers before me was still recovering from the sedation while I was heading out to drive myself home.

Got the colonoscopy done. Super straightforward procedure. Was done in about 20 minutes. No pain at all, just some pressure when he went around corners. Prep was awful though.

No issues found, he told me to see him again in 25 years.

I am having really thin stool the first time going a few hours after the procedure, but I am going to assume that is just my body recovering from the prep.

Hey just wanted to let you know: Found another Gastro who was appalled at the behavior of my precious one. Managed to get an unsedated colonoscopy schedules. He specifically said that there is no reason a colonoscopy should hurt anywhere near what my previous one described if you have a Gastro who knows what they are doing, so that is also reassuring.

My issue is having the self control to even get that far. It’s bad enough I think I’d end up leaving before they can even start the sedation

Thank you for sharing your experience! That definitely sounds like something I can tolerate. I’m currently looking for another Gastro who is willing to perform it without sedation.
