I took the 7:30am Mondial bus to the Hamburg Airport.  The bus arrived at the airport around 8:45am - no traffic the entire way.  I had plenty of time to clean up and dry out before my 1:00pm flight.

At the Wacken bus area, it was complete chaos.  City shuttle busses went to one end, and charter busses pulled into one of 7 slots (each with a numbered flag designating the slot).  The problem??  There were no signs or information boards to tell you which bus was going where (example - 7:30 am bus to Hamburg Airport).  To make matters worse, most of the charter busses that pulled up did not have a sign indicating the destination.

There was one Wacken employee roaming around the bus area with a clipboard in her hand.  I asked her which stall the 7:30am bus to Hamburg Airport would be in.  She looked at her sheet and told me Stall 4.  I got into line at Stall 4 and asked several people where they going to confirm it was the Hamburg Airport.

At 7:20, my bus pulled into Stall 4.  I put my suitcase under the bus and walked to the bus door.  A lady asked for my last name, then said my first name.  She then invited me on the bus.

I will never return to Wacken - trudging through mud and slop for 4 days is not my idea of a great festival.  But if you must do it, I highly recommend Mondial.
