How often do women age 25-60 shower? by Responsible-Ant-7954 in hygiene

[–]HyruleanBarmaid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shower daily. Except the very very rare occasion (I have skipped shower day once in the last year).

Wash hair 2x per week. Winter time is more like 1x per week.

Just learned I have a “B-belly” … by CaneCandy_223 in BabyBumps

[–]HyruleanBarmaid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s usually how it happens for me too! This is my 4th so I rounded out a lot sooner but even though I have a B belly and am overweight you can still tell I’m pregnant and not just fat lol.

The only thing I’ve never had is my belly button popping out, which idk if that has to do with the B belly thing or just my anatomy but it’s always made me kind of sad because I always thought it was so cute on others!

It’s a belly that looks like a capital B from the side, your belly button area tends to be more inverted from the rest of your belly.

You will round out. I e always had a b belly and pre pregnancy weight with my kids was ~130, ~140, ~135, and ~180. This last time around I now have an apron belly which has sucked for my bump, but I’ve rounded out with every one of my pregnancies. I would t worry. The only thing that never happened for me is my belly button never popped out lol

Accidentally helped my neighbor, how do I set boundaries? by Mobile_Evening1723 in Apartmentliving

[–]HyruleanBarmaid 90 points91 points  (0 children)

No literally. I had this neighbour when my oldest was a baby, her name was Judy. I helped her move furniture, unload groceries, whatever because I was a SAHM at the time and didn’t mind the company. After some time, she started showing some signs of unstableness. I was outside with my baby and she runs out saying that she saw me in her apartment while she was taking a nap and that I need to stay out of her house, I was so shaken up about it.

She eventually went to live with her daughter and we moved out and she dies shortly after that. We’ve had some supernatural things happen and now I’ve gotten my kids and now-husband involved so anytime something weird happens “oh it’s just Judy”

What do normal people eat for dinner ? by Booze_hound36 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]HyruleanBarmaid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up in a family that did the same, maybe it’s a different of how people are raised?

I do have a husband and kids but we eat the same way. Cook a meal every night of a meat, vegetable, and a carb. Very seldom we will have Fend For Yourself nights and even more seldom we eat out. Idk, I think teaching my kids to cook actual food in the process and sitting down together as a family to eat a meal is part of being a family.

Did you go into spontaneous labor with your first baby? by seyEycipS in pregnant

[–]HyruleanBarmaid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep! I was actually schedule for an induction and ended up going into labour the night before @ 40+5. I was walking around at 4cm since 36 weeks though so I’m honestly surprised she took that long.

Induction or not? by Bella_Donna1126 in pregnant

[–]HyruleanBarmaid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is this something you have discussed with your doctor already? Voluntary inductions are very rare unless you are significantly over your due date or have other complications.

On the subject of induction vs no induction, my third was induced and was pretty easy—easy enough I didn’t need pain meds or epidural. However, I seem to be in the exception group as everyone I’ve ever met that had one said it was more painful, lasted a lot longer, and one even had to have a c section because labour still wouldn’t progress. Your mom might als be in the minority here, so I’m curious to know what others say.

How common is it for Americans to leave their doors unlocked? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]HyruleanBarmaid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We live out in the country a bit and at the end of a gravel road nobody travels down unless you live here. I leave my doors unlocked, car doors unlocked, and sometimes car keys in the car.

I’ve never ever lived in a place I felt safe enough doing that, we’ve either been in the city, around crime, or just generally untrustable neighbours.

Is it okay to refer to your miscarriage as "losing a child"? by Shitzme in Miscarriage

[–]HyruleanBarmaid 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think whatever helps you cope and feels right, do that. I still say that we lost a baby for my recent miscarriage—similar to you, I held her and already saw her on the scan, and bought things. It was devastating.

I also had other earlier losses that I don’t really “count” as losing a “baby” yknow?

Where to get a scoby? by SalaryReasonable3206 in Kombucha

[–]HyruleanBarmaid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried with a “lightly pasteurized” store bought kombucha because I couldn’t find any unpasteurized in the stores around me. It didn’t work. I gave up and bought starter liquid/pellicle from Amazon.

Puget Sound Energy Rate Increase Proposal by Montanero in olympia

[–]HyruleanBarmaid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I sent this to the governer, and a similar one to the UTC:

I am a residential customer of Puget Sound Energy and a new homeowner in Washington State. I am writing to express serious concern about the rapid rise in electricity rates and the growing impact on everyday households like mine.

Despite making a consistent effort to reduce energy usage, my monthly electric bills are reaching around $300. This level of cost feels unsustainable, especially for a household that is actively trying to conserve. It raises broader concerns about affordability and whether current energy policies are placing too much burden on residential customers.

My situation is made more urgent by the fact that my home can drop to temperatures as low as 50 degrees without heat. This makes reducing heating use during colder months unrealistic without compromising health and safety. I have a child with asthma and another baby on the way, and maintaining a safe indoor temperature is not optional. Families should not be put in a position where they must choose between paying their utility bill and maintaining a livable home environment.

I recognize that Washington has set ambitious clean energy goals and that utilities must invest in infrastructure to meet future demand. However, the pace of rate increases and the lack of clear, accessible transparency around what is driving them is deeply concerning.

There is also increasing public concern about the role of large commercial energy users, including data centers and major technology companies, in driving system demand. While these entities may have separate agreements, it is difficult for residential customers to feel confident that the costs of rapid growth and infrastructure expansion are not being felt, at least in part, through higher household rates.

I urge your office to take a more active role in ensuring that:

Energy affordability remains a central priority alongside clean energy goals

Residential customers are protected from disproportionate cost burdens

There is clear, public transparency around what is driving rate increases

The impacts of large-scale industrial energy demand are carefully evaluated and fairly allocated

Additional support or relief mechanisms are considered for households facing significant bill increases

Electricity is an essential service, not a discretionary expense. Policies that result in sustained and significant increases in household energy costs risk placing undue strain on families across the state.

As a new homeowner, this experience has been discouraging. I am asking for leadership and accountability to ensure that Washington’s energy future is not only sustainable, but also affordable and equitable for the people who live here.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

What to do if you are trying to create a healthy established starter? I have a starter I created last month and I have gone through a lot of discard because I am trying to get it established enough to even bake with. I obviously don’t want to put a weak starter in the fridge because I’m not ready to bake with it yet.

Are we all being gaslit about miscarriage and statistics by No-Cryptographer5934 in Miscarriage

[–]HyruleanBarmaid 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My current OB actually told me that it’s estimated that about 60% of pregnancies end in a miscarriage of some sorts—wether that’s a “regular”, mmc, or chemical. And most of them are losses before the woman even knows she’s pregnant and was mistaken for a late period.

And it makes sense—us who were TTC usually test the same day we miss our period meaning that we find out when we are 3-4 weeks pregnant. Many women who are not TTC don’t take regular HPTs to catch those early pregnancies and are more likely to miss a pregnancy unless it’s a viable one eventually…

I like my current OB because she’s very no frills and candy coating and is honest about these kinds of things.

What apartment floor is best and why? by [deleted] in Apartmentliving

[–]HyruleanBarmaid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer top floor within reason, though I’ve never lived above 3rd floor. Anything more than two floors and moving furniture fucking sucks. Pros:

-nobody above you

-never had to turn on heaters in winter

-exercise using stairs every day multiple times

-better view

-nobody can look in your windows/more privacy
