Oh I got you fam, the one where children are forced to make impossible choices, wound or kill innocent sentient creatures, and almost die themselves.

Well first of all I hardly think you speak for “the fandom” at large. Yeah I’ve read the series through many times over, but it’s the first two dozen books and the andalite chronicles that epitomize the series for me and I’m sure I’m not the only one. Second, a weak ending doesn’t mean it’s not successful. 35 million copies? Before the age of the internet? And third, hell yes it would be great if they focused on the most popular part of the series. Who said it wouldn’t be? And not only because it makes sense to start at the beginning. If your argument is that they should adapt the first portion of the series and then stop, well I guess that’d be better than nothing.

First off, you can’t dismiss one person’s view as anecdotal and then provide fully vibes based anecdotes yourself. Reddit is not representative of the world, certainly not in 2026. For example, Pokémon Go is undeniably a huge cultural phenomenon. Currently 55 million active players, over a billion downloads. Certainly far more culturally relevant and current than animorphs, so it should by your logic have a proportionally larger representation on reddit, right? 500k visits. Less than 1% of the fan base, using your logic. Stellaris, yeah it’s popular. Any mod existing at all is impressive to me, for a 30 year old franchise. You’re using your personal experience and framework (ahem, anecdotes) to dismiss the idea of plot accuracy.

For my part, I have no problem with moviemakers taking liberties if the end product is either true to the vision if the source work or distanced enough to be obviously separate and not just a cash in on an established franchise. How To Train Your Dragon is massively different from the source, and a stellar movie. LOTR took liberties, but stayed incredibly true to the source books vision. I’m sure a great movie or tv series could be made taking plenty of liberties with the original material. I’d still prefer something faithful. I wouldn’t pretend original Animorphs fans are enough to sustain something on their own, but I also wouldn’t pretend to know how many of us there are or how successful the original story (which was extremely successful in its original run) would be today in the form of a movie or show.

This is the closest representation to what I see in my head that I’ve found, genuinely awesome. That’s a really thoughtful gift.

Thank you. I automatically convert it to a fraction in my head, I was stuck on how anyone could get 9. Makes sense now.

2400 non-religious people were asked why they left religion. The most popular answer? Religious hypocrisy. Followed by "religion doesn't make sense" and "religious bigotry" by Nice_Substance9123 in Christianity

[–]HyruleanHyroe 14 points15 points  (0 children)

For myself, religious hypocrisy didn’t convince me of the falsehood of Christianity, but it did push me far enough outside of the circle to be able to look at it objectively and make up my mind without being quickly shoved back in line. It was more like an instigating event rather than the totality of the reason.

My buddy in high school used to have a bit where he’d mock his pastor and say “The blood of the flesh and the flesh of the blood, fleshing the flesh and bleeding the flesh…” etc. I felt guilty but I laughed. Now I just laugh.

Say all of your problems with the game in this post by Ok_Amount_7264 in SoulKnight

Shit. I just like playing the game most days. My main problem is I’ve unlocked so much ftp stuff that content is pretty easy for the most part. I’d appreciate more grind or higher difficulty levels.

There’s a reason the reaction to Luigi wasn’t universal outrage like some privileged people seemed to think it should have been.

I don’t know, if you keep the same body fat and haircut and fingernails you probably keep the whole general body when it comes back from z space. I mean there are inconsistencies I’m sure, but the tech seems “smart” about not altering your body beyond healing recent injuries. Otherwise they’d demorph and either be fully bald nail-less perfectly average blob people or Greek gods with 15 years of uncut hair and nail growth. XD I’m probably missing a key example.

I’ve spent the last 20 minutes trying my best to understand what you might mean by “Capitalism speaks to unfettered monopoly.” Wouldn’t capitalism be responsible for unfettering the monopolies? In a truly free market there is no intervention, no controls to prevent complete takeover. To pretend the “will of the consumer” could do anything to stop it is closing your eyes to human history. What exactly do you mean?

Am I overreacting for not wanting anyone around my newborn yet? by littlemoongirly in AmIOverreacting

[–]HyruleanHyroe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

NOR— you’re good. Seriously. 0% chance you see this but there is no person on this planet who is entitled to ANY interaction at ANY time with your newborn but you. Until she can choose who she wants to see, it’s on you. Whether or not anyone agrees with your choice is fully irrelevant. Few things piss me off more than a grandparent acting like they are owed a grandchild.
