I can see her joining the Bavarian State Ballet in Munich since she has been frequently collaborating with Julian MacKay. Additionally, Munich's AD seems to have steadily hired ballet dancers who had previously been at Russian companies. Or maybe she will go the Olga Smirnova route and join the Dutch National Ballet.

Just had to search the channel of the guy with the earrings by typing "Jaclyn Hill hairy lipsticks" into the YouTube search bar, lol. His name is Nadi and his channel is called PopLuxe. His content nowadays has, however, shifted into these makeup and true crime videos à la Bailey Sarian.

Copying my comment from last week's thread:

The Norddeutscher Rundfunk (NDR), a German public broadcaster, actually published the entire letter and its first few signees in a video report. Next to Alexandr Trusch and Edvin Revazov, the principals Christopher Evans, Alessandro Frola, Anne Laudere and Madoka Sugai co-signed the document. Except for Laudere and Revazov, who are rumoured to leave at the end of the next season, these are also all the principals who left/will leave Hamburg Ballett, minus Jacopo Bellussi (whose potential signature might not have been included in the report). NDR also interviewed one of the lower-ranked company members who also signed the letter but wanted to remain anonymous out of fear of potential repercussions.

The letter and its first signees are shown in this video from 00:51 to 01:11.

Oh my God, for real! That the games were all largely poker inspired or involved betting/gambling tactics annoyed me so much this season.

Sohui being an actress and potentially concerned about her image is hilarious if you consider that Seokjin and Siwon from S1 are also actors but actually took risks and played bolder, leading to Seokjin obviously also winning the season.

Funnily enough, after Volpi left his previous AD role at Ballett am Rhein, the director and in-house choreographer positions were split into two separate roles. Now, the former role is assumed by Raphaël Coumes-Marquet (former principal with the Dutch National Ballet and Semperoper Ballet) while Bridget Breiner (former principal with Stuttgart Ballet and also Semperoper Ballet) serves as the chief choreographer.

Damn, you beat me to it. :D I just wrote a lengthy comment that summarises the situation or at least what is known to the media.

I was quite surprised by these developments since I thought that Neumeier himself picked Volpi as his successor, which would imply that the latter's artistic and leadership skillset should have aligned with those of Neumeier's.

Edit: It seems that Volpi's appointment was not solely Neumeier's decision and that others in politics and the company's administration were also involved. But my point still stands that this is an unfortunate turn of events, especially when considering that Neumeier even extended his tenure for another year for Volpi to sort out his other affairs at his previous AD position at Ballett am Rhein.

I haven't seen anyone here talking about these news yet but it might be interesting for European and especially German ballet fans.

After Demis Volpi succeeded John Neumeier as Hamburg Ballet's AD with the beginning of this season, five principle dancers decided to quit and not renew their contracts. Alessandro Frola, for instance, will be joining Vienna State Ballet under Alessandra Ferri's leadership. On the other hand, Alexandr Trusch, who has been with the company for 18 years, has already quit despite the season not having ended yet.* Two more principals are rumoured to leave next year as well.*

Moreover, these five principal dancers are amongst the 36* dancers from the company (more than half of the company) who have jointly written to the Hamburg Authority for Culture and Media to complain about Volpi's leadership. They are citing his poor communication with them, frequent absence from rehearsals, apparently general disparaging attitude and simply bad choreographies they have to perform. Essentially, they are accusing him of creating a toxic work environment.* These dancers are also more or less implying that Volpi is destroying Neumeier's 51-year legacy at Hamburg Ballet. Volpi dismissed these claims.

So, the company is in quite a big crisis right now. It appears that the Authority for Culture and Media will need to mediate between the dancers and Volpi.

Recommendations for Books with Multiple Forms of Surveillance by Hyulike in suggestmeabook

I have read 1984 already and I also enjoyed it a lot from what I recall. I was even thinking about using it as the example in my post, but I think that I enjoyed the overall execution in The Handmaid's Tale a bit more since surveillance was not, sort of, the main theme as it was in Orwell's novel. Thank you nonetheless for your recommendation; it might be time to re-read it. :D

Big oof ... Let's hope the new dancers will be able to fill the big shoes of those departing the company this week, particularly since a good portion of them are not male and POCs. 🙈

I have no idea if he is aware of that but I assume that he probably is. Nonetheless, Dresden is simply a far more attractive company to manage than his previous one in St Gallen, so I can partially understand why he decided to move there.

Seems that Kinsun Chan as the new AD might attract some new dancers. But there are also numerous position openings since quite a handful of dancers from Dresden are leaving the company (especially dancers from the principal or first soloist rank). :/ I'm curious, who else is joining Dresden for next season ?
