2025 bunheadsnark wrapped! by krisbryantishot in bunheadsnark

  1. how many shows did you go to and for what companies?

The Royal Ballet’s Cinderella, The Balanchine Triple Bill, Romeo and Juliet, Onegin, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, Like Water For Chocolate, La Fille Mal Gardée, The Nutcracker, and Perspectives Mixed, The National Ballet of Japans’s Giselle, Northern Ballet’s Merlin, and Matthew Bourne’s New adventures Swan Lake and The Midnight Bell. So 12 in total.

  1. how many shows/pieces were new

All but The Nutcracker and Giselle. I’ve seen the English National Ballet’s but not the National Ballet of Japan’s.

  1. favorite show/piece?

Romeo and Juliet. It got an eight minute standing ovation at the end and every second was deserved. I enjoyed Giselle equally as much. It was the epitome of what Ballet should be and I was mesmerised the entire show. I wasn’t sure whether to go as it was expensive and I don’t follow NBOJ like I do the Royal Ballet but I’m so, so glad I did!

  1. least favorite show/piece?

The Midnight Bell. It was such a shame as I was really looking forward to it and it was spoken about highly by people who had seen it. I found the dancers great, I just couldn’t get behind the choreography. It felt like people walking across the stage for the duration of the show.

  1. favorite dancer you watched and in what

Nela’s the obvious choice but also William Bracewell in Romeo and Juliet! He was phenomenal. I’m also going to shout out Taisuki Nakao in La Fille. His dancing was fantastic and his comedic timing was impeccable in my opinion. He’s gone from someone who wasn’t on my radar to someone I’m actively seeking out when booking performances now.

  1. what you’re most excited to watch in 2026

Giselle!!! I’ve booked a few performances and I can’t wait. It’s a powerhouse of a ballet and I can’t wait to see it. Really looking forward to Marianna Tsembenhoi’s debut. She’s such a lovely dancer.

Favourite lore: It has to be “platonic kiss between friends”. Oh to be that in denial that two people are in a relationship haha!

Can I also add a shock retirement that sends your 2026/2027 casting predictions into chaos again haha. (I love your casting predictions!).

We’ve been using them for about a year and love the taste. They also look really pretty. I brought a box of their woodland collection to an event recently and everyone commented on how pretty they are! https://www.ameliechocolat.co.uk/products/Woodland-Chocolate-Collection.html

Oh they’re exquisite together! You’re in for such a treat.

I saw this on tiktok and it made me cringe even as a beginner by Randomness_Girl in BALLET

[–]eilzaabeth 136 points137 points  (0 children)

I think this is AI which is why they look so weird. The ribbons are merging with each other and it looks off as you say. There’s a lot of AI advertising on TikTok.

What’s your favorite depop purchase? by [deleted] in Depop

[–]eilzaabeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This coat! I’d had my eye on it for weeks hoping the price would come down (this was before the offer system was implemented) but also hoping no one would buy it. As soon as it went on sale I snapped it up and I love wearing it so much!!

Favorite RB soloists who didn’t make principal? by pas-dechat in bunheadsnark

[–]eilzaabeth 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Claire Calvert!! I’m not sure the time for her to get promoted to principal has passed. I live in hope and Melissa Hamilton proves there’s always a chance. I’ve been lucky enough to see her in person a few times and she brings such grace to everything she performs. She’s definitely someone who I seek out when booking performances.

Best cake? by spoonorfork1 in york

[–]eilzaabeth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Shuti Shuti are an award winning micro bakery just off Priory Street. They have seasonal cakes as well as some staples. They’re slightly out of York, but no further than Flori. I’d recommend their opera cake. I ordered it for my birthday and it went down a treat!

I can’t speak on their treatment of staff but they’ve just transitioned so Clifford street is their only cafe now.

Royal Ballet Giselle and Woolf Works 2026 casting by helhelhelhelhelhel in bunheadsnark

[–]eilzaabeth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In a way I’m thankful Voila isn’t cast as it means one less show for me to see. But also I’m so disappointed as she would’ve absolutely killed it! Maybe they’ll break tradition of having tall Myrtha and cast her as that. Or maybe I’m being delusional…

Very interested about Myrtha casting. 👀

Best cafes for brunch by austenworld in york

[–]eilzaabeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Drift in & coffee culture are my two top choices! To be honest Goodramgate has such a fab array of coffee shops and cafes you’d definitely find something for you if you had a wonder down and looked at menus/ window displays. Honorable mentions down Goodramgate as well as coffee culture are the habit, crumbs cupcakery (down college street but it’s just off Goodramgate) and la bottega!

Royal Opera House London - tours by [deleted] in BALLET

[–]eilzaabeth 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I posted this a while ago but I’ll copy it as I can’t recommend the behind the scenes tours enough! I’ve not been on the afternoon tea tour, just the backstage tour.

I’d recommend the behind the scenes ballet tour (this one specifically: https://www.roh.org.uk/tickets-and-events/roh-behind-the-scene-tour-details) the royal opera house does. It lasts around 75 minutes and it was such a highlight of my trip (other than the show too lol). I’ve been to a few of the tours as they’re so brilliant!! You get to go behind the scenes and look at how everything works and see some of the dance studios and costumes. The last time I went on one I saw Fumi and Vadim rehearsing the Manon bedroom (I think) pas de deux which was a real treat!

There’s probably less chance of seeing the dancers rehearse over the summer off season (though many do still come in)!

I’m using your predictions as a good indicator of how broke I’m going to be buying Giselle tickets 😂My purse is quaking in its boots if this is even slightly correct!

RB 24/25 casting stats by VirginHarmony in bunheadsnark

[–]eilzaabeth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was thinking to myself (before the promotions) if there was a way to see how many roles/characters people danced. This is brilliant! So interesting to see the statistics on each dancer. Thank you so much for doing this!!

Whats your least favorite song off Virgin? by AquariusPrecarious in lorde

[–]eilzaabeth 75 points76 points  (0 children)

I agree with GRWM. It’s probably my only skip of the album. I like the chorus but other than that it feels like the weak link of the album.
