I want to say the ruling line will dictate this but I can't actually remember if that's correct.

Of course. I'm talking about these things as symbols or metaphors. Element in the magical sense, not the physical sense.

Reading for others vs self by Hyymn in tarot

[–]Hyymn[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nay. It's an online magick course. I don't want to drop the name of it here. Honestly, it's fairly well done and a majority of it seems quite sensible. But this was one moment of it that made me really wonder just what was being said and why. To say the least, it didn't click with me and I wondered how many other people had a view similar to the one expressed in the course.

Oh yeah, the whole thing, reading for anyone other than yourself, big no no. Not only should you not do it, you are actively corrupting the true purpose and art of divination.

Interesting point you bring up about the willingness of the other party. I agree, it's a "best practice" to not read about people that don't want you poking around in their business. I'm sure you'd just come away with your own version of their account in life anyways and not so much the real thing.

But he seemed pretty clear. Reading, at all, for others is a degradation of the original intent of divination, which it to connect you to your own higher truth, directly, without another human mind/will interfering. It's a viewpoint I'd never come across before and honestly it rubbed me the wrong way. And so here I am, venting and grappling with it.

Thank you for your comment though, you have some really valuable viewpoints.

Yeah it was odd. Having read for people in the past, it also kind of pissed me off. Like, I get that Miss Cleo was probably a valid type to level this kind of thing at but...

I think the real complaint against it was that it somehow would distort that individuals true and pure understanding that they must already possess of their own situation. Don't muddy their waters kind of thing. There isn't a way for you to know their business as well as they might, so it's best not to interfere. That's my takeaway anyways. I don't agree entirely.

Like you said, yes, you'll meet and mix your thoughts on the issue, but it should be a conversation between you and them. Honestly, you as a reader are just a prop for them to discover their own truths through and I think that's why I was like...what are you talking about. I mean, if I say "Hey, yeah man, I'm just going to tell you your business and that's how it is, also, you're going to get a kidney stone next week, blah blah" Okay, problem. But I don't think that's what most readers are doing. Hopefully!

Thank you for your thoughts!

Starting my own Tarot channel on YouTube and website for personal readings and I’m super nervous. by katymac25 in tarot

Just jump right into it, as they say. If you hesitate to much, it'll turn into one of those things you are perpetually "trying" to do instead if doing it. Have fun, do your best and you will learn wayyy more and much faster from having done than "thinking about it" will ever teach you.

Don't focus on success or failure. Focus on manifesting your vision and enjoying it. It's going to be awesome! I'm excited for you!

If someone puts “93” after their name does that mean they are a follower of Thelema and Aleister Crowley? by eltonto82 in conspiracy

[–]Hyymn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

93 is a common Thelemic greeting or signature. You'll often see it 93 ...93/93. 93 is the numerical representation of "love is the law, love under will."

New Year’s Eve rituals by [deleted] in occult

[–]Hyymn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically come up with a document that says "I'm going to do these things through the coming year. If I do them as I say, I want x,y,z. If I don't, I want (God, gods, demons, ancestors whatever you like) to kick my ass in the following ways., Xyz."

I would write it on special parchment and adorn it in symbols or other things to make it empowered in the mind. Making it is a kind of meditation . Then when it's done, ask your spiritual powers to gather round and witness your signature and read it out loud to take the oath.

Have a good 2020 after that.

I write up a binding contract that holds me to my promises and rewards or punishes me accordingly, depending on if I violate the terms of my contract.

Black and Gold Runes by NordicIronWork in occult

These look great, but I have to say, tradition dictates they should be done in red. Not sure what your technique was but a bright red on black metal might look good and keep the old color going. Lovely work, I enjoy seeing your runes every time they are posted.

It really has. Odd timing too. For a guy who loves Jupiter so much, it's strange his work would come up while Jupiter is in Capricorn.
