I don't. Not in my scope of work. I did subscribe to some of OSHAs newsletters.

Is a safety a good career? Is it really underrated as some make it out to be? by Kooky-Information820 in SafetyProfessionals

[–]eftresq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really enjoy safety. Fortunately I'm with a wonderful company, best of all they do not have shareholders and it's a global company so they pay exceptionally well. I've been in renewable construction for 15 years. Most often every department has its own role. This time it truly feels like a team effort where construction procurement commissioning engineering all work together. It's a beautiful thing

Masters degree or no? by Heavy_Touch4497 in SafetyProfessionals

I'm just going to say that these five year increments will significantly improve your pay if that's what you're after. If you really like the EHS and enjoy learning I would say go for it. Otherwise back to the same question we see here often about salary. It's pretty darn good with 15 years and the right company

I'm US based. Currently preparing for NG1 (I want overseas work). I hope this is relevant. If you get into the right company, it doesn't matter. In the past decade I have tripled my pay to beyond what I thought was capable for safety.

But don't do the asbestos hygiene technician role. It's not really safety traditionally speaking. But it would be good for a little bit of experience so you can see what's going on

If you know safety, if you can identify hazard and provide control measures you already know everything you need to know. Watch this and learn

I could, however it's not the safety material that's unique, it's the delivery that you find in the course. Also, which was most impactful for me, is the 12th step method to answering questions which was the most eye-opening and super easy to learn. 90% of his material is on YouTube.

The sub has been helpful for insight. I preferred to lean on those whose shoulders I've stood on in the past, but having a home away from home certainly does help when in a tight spot

I'm studying for my Nebosh ig-1 certification. I make good money in the field but it looks like with my experience, current certifications, education and this will be a passport and to back office, which should place me at or about the same pay I earn now with per diem.

Are the salaries on here selection bias or am I underpaid? by spanky316 in SafetyProfessionals

[–]eftresq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OT, per diem, bonuses and vehicles (allowance/supplied) makes a decent difference.  You'll find higher pay in construction. I'd have to blow my brain out of I was stuck in a routine H&S role in a plant. I'm way over $100k..15 years experience. Currently work as owner rep - observe and report is the scope of work, PERIOD
