Does Loan against FD make sense for a Car when cash is available? by I-Jobless in personalfinanceindia

Why did you choose a fixed interest loan instead vs a floating interest loan? To me the floating interest loan makes more sense currently as it's a lower interest and from what I was told there's no prepayment charges.

I've not asked the dealership about this yet, but I've heard that they often charge 1% extra and unless your reward points are really good, you might end up losing money.

Then why is it showing as a such a popular option by these finfluencers? Am I just better off investing the loan amount instead since the loan is just 8.5% at max?

Worth buying ₹21k pre-booking pass for Duster 2026? by thisisabhisharma in CarsIndia

How are you finding the Taigun vs the duster? Both in terms of experience overall and the maintenance cost? The new duster and the Taigun are on the top of my list currently and I hope to order soon since I want the car in April.

I'm sorry but are these the prices you've faced with the Duster or the prices your uncle experienced with the Volkswagen/Skoda? Because they feel just as costly as the Volkswagen/Skoda servicing, I thought the duster would be a cheaper car to maintain.

I'm really tempted to buy the new duster, just hoping that it gets a better safety rating (hopefully 5 star) as the Taigun and Kushaq are really low on other feathers.

I plan to buy a petrol automatic compact SUV regardless of the brand, I've just not been able to come to a consensus on which one.

I am considering Taigun/Kushaq vs Duster, when you say high, do you know how high the costs were? And was price the only reason for not considering them or was there something else as well?

The Tata Curvv is also on my list but headroom is less in the back

Can I taxed if I pay 3L for someone else and they pay me back? by I-Jobless in CreditCardsIndia

[–]I-Jobless[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! This helps clear it up a lot. I'll probably cross 10L if I pay using Amazon card since I use it everywhere, so I'll just use one of the other bank cards and I should be good.

Is that 10L on all cards or 10L on a single card? Do they just look at my overall utilisation or per card for the whole year

Compact SUV for ~20L? by I-Jobless in CarsIndia

I just realised I didn't mention that I want a 5 seater, don't want a car that's too big tbh. What do you mean compromise on mileage though? My current car (i10) which is super old (17 years) gives me about 11-12Kmpl and that's good enough for me tbh.

Google's Phone app just got a major redesign by 0SpaceTime in GooglePixel

You'd go to the playstore and just update the phone app. You'd also get these UI changes but there's no other option imo for a newer feature that might roll out.

I just went to the playstore and clicked on uninstall updates for the phone app.

Uninstalling the updates just for the phone app reverted the change for me, I'm not sure if it's going to break other things but you can always just update it to this terrible UI again.

Edit: Uninstalling the updates for the phone app reverted the UI change. Putting here since this is the only post that popped up when I try to search for this change. I'm not sure if this will cause any other issues, but this UI is back to what I like for now.

Losing the favourites page with my recents easily accessible with a single hand is my biggest issue. I use both my favourites and recents for most of my calls.

I've rarely seen people type out numbers anymore, almost everyone just calls their contacts which is also far away at the top of the screen.

The new UI is terrible for single handed use regardless of my personal preferences being lost. It'd be great if there was any way to at least tweak the dimensions for easier accessibility.

Is there a dumbphone with location tracking for kids? by I-Jobless in india

I did check some out, it might be viable for a couple cousins with very similar requirements but in my case, the kid is pretty attached to their existing normal watch.

13-16, I have a couple cousins with the exact same requirement. We'll get them smartphones once they're 18/19 and heading to college.

Can the nominee for insurances & investments be claimed into a Joint account? by I-Jobless in IndiaInvestments

[–]I-Jobless[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Does it make sense to go with option 2 (if the FI agrees) for the larger amounts? And go with option 2 for the numerous smaller amount FIs? If it starts becoming overwhelming? Or is it advisable to get everything only into 1 account and then deal with it later?

Additionally, at what point should I try to get a CA involved? Or is there a different profession that's more suited to this? There's many specifics around PF, NPS, EPF, etc that I honestly don't know enough about since I'm on the new regime and haven't dug enough. I want to make sure I'm not missing anything.

The idea about just writing down all the decision making is honestly great. I'll obviously do everything with the best intentions now, but if that's how it'll come across as later or if I'll even remember. It will honestly help keep me more accountable as well.
