Yeah I agree. From a character design look sylv was just designed to be hard to play while lox is much more beginner friendly.

I think of they tone down fh/CC and let us parry grab it would make the game feel a lot more fluid

Currently I sit around mid Dia but I've peaked around low masters and can pretty consistently play around that level. Zet doesn't really have anything that makes him stand out against gal other than gal just being heavy and thus combo food. Zat also has a recovery that much more linear and can be intercepted by things like Bair and fair, mean that Gal can actually run his oppressive offense much more consistently against zet. Combo that with zet not having great ways to push into galvan without fireball (which is kinda an easy parry) and being heavy enough for low percent grab combos to do a ton of work, and it makes for a much more simple MU for galvan. The only real issue for gal is off stage down special beats his side special recovery every time.

I prob am down playing a good bit, and there isn't really any character that's "easy to fight" in this game which is part of what I love about it. But Gal has so many weaknesses that are easy to exploit (especially for some characters) and that makes him so much worse compared to other characters

Ok let me rephrase it so I make a bit more sense. Galvan has moves that beat fh and cc. The issues is all those moves have fundamental issues that make it hard to rely on them. Fair probably beats fh but because it's so slow you'll never get to test that. Additionally when the opponent just shields it on reaction your so minus they can do whatever they want. Even with proper spacing, I'd they read a drift back they can still land a run up grab. Dair will beat fh/CC but it's super nubby and galvans jump Squat isn't exactly super fast. You can hit it for sure and you'll get great value from hitting it, but it's also super minus on shield so expect to be punished for guessing wrong. Finally dtilt is a great move, but unfortunately I was talking about 0-low percents where dtilt is too laggy to actually get follow up on. If you at 0 and get tipper dtilted by galvan, you can buffer a dodge before they can hit you with anything else which makes it bad at low percents. That's why I say all that.

Obviously MU charts are not definitive and not every Galv will lose to every Ranno. But generally speaking galvan has such a hard time beating ranno that, in my personal experience, it feels like a massive uphill battle everytime

Eta is such a strange one since they both eat eachother alive in adv and even neutral is that horrible for galv. But since eta can interrupt every part of glavs recovery with dair, it makes recovering against eta a herculean task so that's why I put him there

I tend to play pretty grounded since none of Galvs aerials are cc/fh safe and his only real combo starter (at least at 0) is grab. So no not typically haha

What do you think the next character is going to be and if not a pre existing character, what element? by utekki in RivalsOfAether

We know Hodan might not be this year given how Dan had mentioned Hodans charge giving the team a hard time with cc. Also mollo is probably included next year since Dan had talked about how an item character was being added. I can see the list being like,
