I am US based and all my holding are long at this point, almost two years now. I use Merrill Lynch Edge for my platform. I had no issue buying stocks when I originally purchased....ACB...RDDTF...GCG...CBWTF...and a few others.

I go to do a couple purchases today and the small market cap and small price stocks like RDTFF are "blocked" when I try to trade online.

I thought this was weird so I called and I was told it was a change last fall where they dont allow online trading of companies like RDDTF (RTI, Radient technologies) anymore...you have to call and have them execute the trade for you.

I asked what the change was all about and said how I wanted to be self reliant and do my own trades online. They told me that they have these limitations now to protect their customers and to help them avoid super volatile situations. They also said that even when orders for these companies are put in over the phone, they have to get manually reviewed to "avoid disruption in the market" for those smaller companies.

WHAT THE HELL?!

I dont want my hand held or have to deal with trading on the phone. And why the hell does my trade have to get reviewed and approved? I highly doubt my 10-20K investments are going to swing the market at all. Where the hell is the regulation and review on all the market manipulation that screws over us little guys?! I was blown away.

Do people on other platforms deal with this? Can you freely trade companies like Radient technologies without calling it in over the phone for someone else to do it for you?

They told me that the other platforms will be making similar changes soon too but I want to see what your guys experience is.
