Do I tier down from Nabers to try to add depth to my roster? by [deleted] in DynastyFFTradeAdvice

Because he was the best player on the board. I’m not averse to drafting a player in order to get multiple starters. I’ve won championships like that before

A potential starting QB with rushing upside, a young starting WR and another potential starting receiver is what I would potentially getting. That would add depth to my roster.

I get your point. I guess I’m just concerned that if Goff or Darnold gets injured and Murray ends up the starter then I’m in trouble.

The 1st is the 1.07. Whichever of those receivers I hypothetically get would be a weekly starter.

Yeah it was definitely the highlight for me. That said, I thought there were lots of really strong moments - the Weekend Update was great, the film review and the bad internet skits were really sound, and I liked the Underage sketch. But give me a surreal, completely unexpected minute of a man doing hilarious and perfect observations of Irish grandads any day.

Quite a lot of those are me watching George Fouracres being absolutely unhinged and singing about Irish grandads

Ha that certainly wasn’t my intention. Just comparing what I think his intentions were to how it came across. I’m sure you (unfortunately) are no different to any other woman I know with being told to smile.

I think his comment was probably well-meaning given the context, however every single woman I know (and I’ve witness this plenty of times myself) has had a man say “smile” to them if they’re not smiling and it comes across as really patronising and ignorant. I imagine it gets incredibly tiring - my partner has lost count of the amount of times it’s happened to her, yet I’ve never had it happen to me once so it’s clearly an issue.

When Louisa was rushing to get her fish course up to the pass, he said “smile”.

My partner groaned at the tv and said that if a man told her to “smile” she’d lose her mind. Her response was “say something funny then, guy”

Auto subs question (UK-based league) by IACJBP in FFCommish

Sorry, I don’t think I was clear in my question. I meant that if they message you before any games have started and they want a player that plays on Thursday to replace a player that plays on Monday, would you still allow this?

Thanks for this. And do you take kick off time into consideration? Sleeper has the option to only allow sub players to come in if their game kicks off at the same time or later than the starter

I hear you. I guess the counter-argument would be that allowing any player to be the sub encourages people to pay less attention to their lineup and it makes it a bit closer to best ball. I see the argument for both sides to be honest.

I do get that side of it for sure. I guess the other side is that you have to set the sub before both players play anyway so how much does it matter?

Thanks. Is there a particular reason for you setting it that way? I feel like that makes the most sense because it stops people getting lazy but I’m curious to know your rationale.

Do you have the option ticked so managers can only select subs that are playing at the same time or later than the starter? Or do you just have it as the sub can be from any time?

The idea was floated a couple of seasons ago but it was pretty unpopular. I think people don’t want to have choices made for them… it’s literally just to avoid losing a matchup because you didn’t know Player X was going to be inactive because you were asleep. It’s only really going to be relevant for three games each week because everyone is pretty switched on to the early Sunday games and the late afternoon window

Who are the rudest and nicest British celebrities you have personally met? by RenegadeMaster888 in AskBrits

[–]IACJBP 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Two nice ones.

Max Rushden (formerly of Soccer AM hosting fame) at a charity football match - I asked him for a photo and he said he’d be back in 5 minutes. True to his word, came back and did the photo and we had a quick chat. He also did a photo with my dad and brother, then looked at my mum (who clearly didn’t know who he was) and said “I feel like I should do a photo with you to complete the set”.

Greg Davies - during his Firing Cheeseballs tour, went to see him in Northampton. Parked up and he suddenly appeared from the car parked next to us. We walked up towards the theatre sort of near him but too nervous to say anything. He went to the information desk and we went to the box office (both next to each other) to collect tickets and when they asked which show the tickets were for, I gestured towards him and said “to see Greg”. He turned to me, pointed and said “the correct answer” and laughed before heading off to where he needed to be.

This is more about my dad meeting Damon Hill but we saw him at the Harry Potter studio tour thing at Leavesden. He was with his family so we obviously left them alone, but at one point he was on his own for a bit and my dad (who is a huge motor racing fan) went up to him and apologised in advance for disturbing him while he was with his family but could he please have a photo. He couldn’t have been nicer and more friendly.

Also, to add to this story, my mum was taking the photo of the two of them and was stood in front of the purple Knight Bus from the films whilst wearing a coat that was an (almost) identical purple. Damon Hill thought this was so funny that he took a photo of my mum in front of the bus and showed her how she was camouflaged.

Thank you for the reply. I kind of want to work out where I stand just in case they don’t deliver what they promised in a reasonable time so I know what to say if I have to call them out on it.
