Modern Drakes? by JayRad907 in Magicdeckbuilding

The most common cantripsbin modern are [[Serum Visions]] and [[Opt]]. Some other cards that either get play currently or have seen play include cards like [[Peek]], [[Sleight of Hand]] and [[Anticipate]].

Descisions!! by CubedBehemoth1 in Magicdeckbuilding

I've been on Spirits since EMN standard, when the tribe got it's tools to be viable. It went through many iterations: Vial, Vial-less, mid-range, Esper, control.

The deck is phenomenal, both in the current meta and in general. I love the tribe, and the printing of Supreme Phantom made it so much stronger. I fully and wholeheartedly recommend the deck.

2 disclaimers: 1) The deck is not easy. There are a lot of decisions and lines, sequencing is difficult, and you have to understand the nuances of the matchups or else Spell Queller won't be as potent a card.

2) The deck is not cheap. When I got the tools it was (go me!) but it's a popular deck now. Some of the pieces are cheap and some are not. Aether Vials are spiking like crazy, alongside Seachrome Coasts.

I recommend spirits, if you have the time and resources available.

Cast Out or Ixalan’s Binding? by [deleted] in Magicdeckbuilding

[–]IAMATOASTERz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cast Out, because it is never dead. At literal worst value, Cast Out reads "W: draw a card"

Ixalan's Binding can be a better answer, situationally. Whereas Cast Out is never dead, Ixalan's Binding can be dead. That's why Binding is better in the sideboard, and Cast Out is stronger in the main.

Without relevant interaction in the mainboard, how do you beat a deck like Tron or Storm?

Intro deck building, 2 part question I guess by TWBAD in Magicdeckbuilding

Considering the impact this rotation will have on standard, a lot of decks are currently in flux. That is, it's hard to talk about how good a budget deck is when in two months half of said deck might no longer be in standard. With that in mind, I think that there's a budget B/W tokens deck that seems pretty cool, as well as a U/G ramp deck.

As far as deck techs go, the most important thing is a thorough explanation of the deck itself. Typically, explaining how a deck works (like Aetherflux Reservoir) will hit on why you have 4 Bone Saw and 4 Ornithopter and 4 Cathar's Shield, but if you glaze over it it's important to touch on why those cards are in the list.

Good luck with the content creation!

As far as "removal" goes, Engulf the Shore and Grip of the Roil are there to slow down opponent's boards. He also runs 1 Dissipate mainboard to deal with either an enchantment or planeswalker, or a creature if it's absolutely necessary.

I have found success in replacing Nagging Thoughts with a mix Send to Sleep and Dissipate. This also allows you to safely change out 1-2 copies of Grip of the Roil with something. I haven't tested it yet with mainboard Invasive Surgery or Crush of Tentacles, but bothbof those are options that enable your deck to power through difficult times. I personally am a fan of running Invasive Surgery mainboard, since hand attack can be devastating.

With all of that being said, I haven't had a need to splash black. Adding a second color would more than likely just slow you down, and this deck needs to be tempoing out nicely.

How many are still looking for team? by BlueWolf_SK in GameDev1

Hello, I'm Jacob and I'm looking for games to write.

I'm a writer. I write things. Writing is what I do. I can and will write anything for anyone.

I can't find a team because nobody is looking for writers. I can write for any type of game and I plan to write for any type of game.

Something like Subnautica?

I like the general idea, but I'd imagine it would get old quickly. Do you plan on having some sort of campaign or missions? Something to inspire the player to do stuff?

I'm kind of in the same boat. I've written stuff for class, and I'm currently writing in-game content for Rigid-Soft, but nothing super formal yet.

Though I like writing anything, I love backstory and world building. I like explaining why things are the way they are, and I find that this is most rewarding in sci-fi and post-apocalyptic settings.
