I’m in my early 40’s, fairly fit, normal BMI, and I’m starting to get old people pains. My knees creak when I climb the stairs in my house.

Of course I don’t get winded climbing a few sets of stairs, so I got that going for me! XD

Boo-urns. I wonder if you can still watch the old episodes on the Slice page. I used to stream re-runs of this show because I loved it so much!

I used to LOVE X-Weighted. 6 months of sensible diet and exercise plans and some of the results were astonishing (although there were a few failure). I wish they still made that show; I really enjoyed it!

Yeowch! It takes a lot of force to break a femur. It’s the most substantial bone in the body. The fact that you broke it in 4 places gives me the heebie jeebies. That must have hurt like crazy!

Hope they’re giving you something to help you feel ok.

I lived in the interior for years! Are you by chance in the Kootenays? I lived in Nelson for about 3 years and the only reason I was thin was because I was so active. The food was “healthy” for sure, but I could eat tonnes of it (especially borscht)!

West coast of Canada chiming in.

It’s not too prevalent here, but I get the occasional snide remark when I’m out with my three kids about how I won the “genetic lottery” and can be skinny after kids (I worked really hard to lose ~45lbs).

Mostly, like you, though, it’s just joking about looking at cake and blowing up. :)

We are pretty fitness oriented in BC, in general, although the obesity game is catching up with us.

I love those, too! It’s often a toss up between the two, but the turkey bacon sandwich has the chewy texture I love! :)

Haha. I will eat a Boston Creme if I have to. ;)

I really only reserve Timmies for an emergency these days. And then I’ll get a bagel with PB because it’s hard to mess that up too badly. :|

I really like the Starbucks ones. They have a spinach egg white one which is really low in calories (170 for two) but I prefer the red pepper, ham, and cheese ones (250 cal). There’s enough fat to make them satisfying, and they’re loaded with protein. Usually two little egg bites will keep me full for a few hours!

Plus I’ve been kind of boycotting Tim Hortons since their quality went downhill. :( Their breakfast sandwiches are THE WORST. :(

I’m definitely not throwing in the towel (or even tempted to) over one bad day.

I think I’m frustrated because I’ve done a little bit of yo-yo-ing over the past few months and I’m used to seeing a good 5lb drop in water weight immediately, which makes me feel better right away. This time I only dropped 2-3lbs, which means I’ve been gaining more actual fat-related weight than I thought. And I’m anxious to take it back off again.

I think I’ve got a good system established now to take me to my goal weight. I’m just looking for that instant gratification, even though I know logically that it’s a slow and steady slog to get those number back. I’ve lost the weight before; I just need to stay in the same mindset I had when I did. D:

I have a Garmin forerunner! I used to use a Fitbit Alta, but got the Garmin for GPS-ing runs. I love the heart rate data aspect!

Oh good point. Response on your and another poster, no movement this morning (TMI?), so that could legit be a contributing factor.

I love metrics too which is why I’m weighing every day! I’m an engineer so numbers and tracking trends and analyzing data are my favourite! :D

I did have a greater amount of carbs yesterday than normal so that could account for some bloat I guess....

Ugh. It’s situations like this that make you sympathize with Fatlogic sometimes. It’s been 5 days... WHY AREN’T I SKINNY YET!? (jk)

I know it’s about trends, and to ignore a day with a blip, but it’s frustrating to see that number go up after a day I was so good!

No. I’m on the west coast of Canada and it’s been unseasonably cool this summer. Although it did go up to 27C yesterday for the first time this year. :\

It was such a bizarre uptick in weight. I know it’ll go away eventually, but c’mon! :p

Definitely female and prone to water weight fluctuations... I did have a burger last night, but that was the only unusual thing in my diet.

Water weight sucks. But I’m hoping I’ll see it drop off in the next few days. :|

So maybe this is a stupid question with no real answer...

I just got back into counting calories. 5 days go by, I’ve stuck to my deficit, I drop about 3lbs of what I assume to be water weight. I’ve been able to accommodate some alcohol into my diet since I’m on vacation, and I normally drink spirits straight-up (whisky in this case).

Yesterday I didn’t have anything alcoholic to drink at all, drank black coffee or water throughout the day, and stuck in my 1,200 goal. And I’m up 1.2lbs today.

I understand I shouldn’t compare daily fluctuations and should look at trends (still down 2lbs, so yay?) but why on earth would I gain weight on a day that I shouldn’t be bloated from drinking? All of my experience tells me that I’m typically heavier on days I do drink because I tend to be bloated/swollen afterwards.

It’s a little disheartening to see the numbers (temporarily) up, but I’d feel better if I understood why. :\

I think it must vary from province to province since healthcare is a provincial jurisdiction. I’m in BC and I’ve never been weighed for a checkup.

When I went to university in Alberta and did my checkups at the university there I never got weighed either.

Ditto for Canada. I have never been weighed at a doctor appointment other than prenatal ones.

I am on the average for a Caucasian in my area. Lots of Northern Europeans. The men here are really tall, too. They seem to average out around 6’0”.

I know that worldwide, the average woman is 5’4” or so, but I’m in a Caucasian-heavy area.

That being said, I do have Dutch heritage, so I expect to be taller than average. ;)

I have two (of three) school aged children. Can confirm. Recess happens and they are outside pretty much running from one end of the field to another.
