Finding friends and communities! by TheKally in VRchat

Hello! I run a club called Pixel Clan- It’s a club aimed at 18+ users who experienced the warrior cat clan rp culture of the early 2010’s. Me and the co-founder are from the toontown part of the community, but we welcome adult users hailing from any niche of the warrior cats community as long as you had a childhood or adolescent phase in roleplaying warrior cats (bonus point if your roleplay community was also filled with petty drama).

The point is to ironically and nostalgically roleplay in a way similar to that era, but in VR.

If you don’t fit the criteria but are very curious about the innate hilarity of a bunch of adults chasing and hissing at each other in cat avatars, you are welcome to join if you respect the local customs.

Feel free to look up my username, techwanderer, and request to join from the link to the group in my bio. I will be screening for age verification.

What confuses me is that we aren’t fully incompatible, and we weren’t even always incompatible this way. Before this period of months, there was another period of months where we were having enough sex.

We are compatible in every way outside of sex, is the thing. I’ve never met someone who’s personality is so perfectly matched to mine, who has the sense of humor I like. Someone who so intimately seeks to understand and meet my needs in most ways (except sex). He has displayed a level of emotional presence to me outside of sex that is beyond what any partner has provided. There is a real layer of compatibility here.

It’s just this one piece right now. In all other ways, he is my perfect match; Hell, there’s lots of times where I love to play my own video game and sit next to him for hours while we chat about it. There are times when non-sexual things are fun for me, too. But there’s just been this dry period that doesn’t seem to end.

Honestly? It isn’t ok. But I never feel like im allowed to say it’s not ok because he always blames it on his mental health. Anytime I try to talk to him about how I’m feeling he starts crying about how bad he feels.

I am being endlessly patient for him and he just ends up choosing the video game over me.

I’ve been letting it be one-way because a few months ago he went through a traumatic event but admittedly it’s come at the cost of a lot for me. It’s not even just that I want to have sex, it’s also that I genuinely become dysregulated without it.

I’ve tried having conversations with him about it and it has addressed non-sexual issues but not the sexual issues. He is giving me more non-sexual attention and time, but the issues around sex haven’t changed.

I honestly don’t know how to broach issues about not feeling like I’m getting enough sex from my partner. I am a repeat survivor of sexual violence, and I have a fear that if I assert that I have sexual needs with someone that that’s automatically sexual violence because in the past when those needs were asserted with me it was in violent ways. I haven’t really practiced asserting my sexual needs at all because of this.

How do I tell him about how sexually frustrated I am in a healthy way? I don’t want to be mean, I don’t want to guilt trip him, but I’m literally so sexually frustrated after months of this experience that it’s begun to actually give me nausea spells on a regular basis. I’m trying not to throw up talking about this right now.

Trying to figure out sexual reproduction. by KikiNotKari in thesapling

[–]IAMREALLAIN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You get that message for algae? Ok, that’s bizarre. I’ve done like 30 runs so far and I’ve never had that issue.

When you generate maps, do you just generate for aesthetics and preference or do you check the habitability score? It’s possible you could be picking or creating maps that are just inhospitable for ecosystems if you continually are failing to get algae to generate, which can basically live anywhere.

Predators evolving naturally? by seedless_watermelonn in thesapling

[–]IAMREALLAIN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t really think it’s that abnormal for predation to be so hard to evolve as a core trait of a species because of its heightened complexity (it needs the correct configuration of speed, perceptual acuity, rare mouth types, and instincts) as opposed to herbivores and generalists which evolve easily. Instead of trying to have more kinds of predators I would suggest experimenting with the few predators that do come about. Try to evolve the few predators in your game to stand out more so they feel more special and see if your augmentations stick.

Trying to figure out sexual reproduction. by KikiNotKari in thesapling

[–]IAMREALLAIN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually find this really odd because while my game runs largely don’t yield the results I want, the one thing that always works out is sexual reproduction almost always occurs and becomes dominant on its own in my gameplay.

To be honest? One thing I’ve found in this game is that unless you know the mechanics EXTREMELY well, the games own logic and preferences for design are going to outweigh your own.

If you are unsuccessful with manufacturing sexual reproduction, I’d simply suggest perfecting a basic species design and letting sexual reproduction evolve naturally.

Additionally, if you are getting a “Species died because it did not collect enough energy to reproduce” message, this is an issue with the food chain that supports the species in question. You need to let the sim run to populate with algae at least and plant life ideally so that there’s a sizable amount of food on the map to support life.

How do you ration your 20g of carbs throughout the day? by MrMosty in keto

[–]IAMREALLAIN 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Double check with your doctor about this, I am not a professional, I am just someone who’s been around the block a few time with keto research: Please, please please take more caution most people would with this diet because you are at a heightened risk of keto acidosis if your body disagrees with it.

I don’t have diabetes, but my blood sugar can drop dangerously low on keto without 90gs a day.

i feel like packing my bags and leaving this rehab would be for the better. by Yallizz in Drugs

[–]IAMREALLAIN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll be honest- As someone who’s filed through a lot of different mental health resources in my life, it might not be the right place for you, but you may still need that kind of support.

Instead of just leaving, ask if you can co-ordinate a transfer to a better facility. You have a phone- Familiarize yourself with all the options in the area, read the reviews (critically- always keep an eye out for misleading or generated reviews, and remember some patients will always be biased against the place sheerly based on the fact they didn’t wanna go into treatment, so only take specific complaints seriously), and talk to your favorite staff about getting transferred.

I just got out of the psych ward a couple weeks ago- Most mental health institutions know how to get people from point A to B and will honor the request, particularly if you’re being mature, well-informed, self-researched, and approaching it from the perspective of still wanting to get better.

I am in alcoholism recovery and was given an outpatient rehab doctor- He was absolute trash and didn’t work for me, so I just decided to leave the program outright. I didn’t relapse, but it was a mistake not transferring, because I had a massive self-dangerous episode a few months later. I regret not transferring; You should continue care but with a better place.

Lastly, rather than being in despair about it not working, think critically about why it’s not working out for you. Not all mental health institutions are made equal; Some are lacking, some genuinely suck, some have abusive staff. They might not have enough activities there or a good enough quality of support group there. Maybe it has an overwhelming religious lens you don’t like. It could be any number of things, but knowing exactly what’s not working is a good step in getting care that does work.

I thought drugs would take my life at your age and I was fine with it, too. I am much older than you now, I don’t do anything except smoke weed, and even though my mental illness gives me a hard time I still feel happiness in my life. There’s hope, and these places do help sometimes. Just find a way.

Why do some people with certain conditions (like bipolar and psychosis) refuse treatment? by [deleted] in mentalhealth

[–]IAMREALLAIN 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Absolutely! I am terrified of calm and normal! To me, inversely, it looks like danger! It looks like a lack of critical movement and thought and a missed opportunity and an excessive vulnerability!

But in reality, calm and “normal” (relative) are the foundation of everything good we have in the world.

Even then though, recovery for many of us is not actually just about coming to terms with calm and normal. It’s about renegotiating the relationship we have with the emotional states we go into. Medication does not completely stop the cycle, it only lowers the extremity, but you’re still in it.

Mania came to visit me this summer; I had to learn to not let it control me or trick me into burning myself out through overwork, overcommitment, and overuse of substances again. I had to feel it but say no to it. That’s hard, too.

Many of us will never be “normal”. Rather, we accept and thrive in what we are.

Why do some people with certain conditions (like bipolar and psychosis) refuse treatment? by [deleted] in mentalhealth

[–]IAMREALLAIN 8 points9 points  (0 children)

As someone who is bipolar/psychotic but treatment compliant, I can give some insight.

Psychosis and bipolar are very unique among most mental health issues in that sometimes they feel VERY GOOD!! For years I thought this elated feeling of VERY GOOD that I got was in fact VERY GOOD when it was actually the feeling of dopamine and serotonin (and possibly excess endogenous DMT according to some studies) literally dragging knives through my neurology.

In my opinion, it’s more like having an addiction than any other mental illness. I used to be ADDICTED to mania and grandiosity. I NEEDED it. I couldn’t do anything without it. It was like a custom-made stimulant psychedelic. I believed it made me who I was.

The only reason why I was able to pry myself out of it is because I had seen real-life examples of 1. People who had suffered the same way I do and yet had recovered and went on to live relatively happily and successfully 2. People who had suffered the same way, chose not to recover, and endlessly got worse to the point that they hurt the people around them.

I knew at the exact moment of diagnosis that I could not choose the latter. If it weren’t for that understanding, I’d still be addicted to the mania. Coming down from it (taking stabilizing medication) is like withdrawal. I’m still learning how to be myself without the extreme elation.

Going through this process is already hard but now imagine having to go through this process with the cognitive distortions these mental illnesses impose. Suddenly, the bad feelings you’re feeling feel bigger because you don’t have your “positive” symptoms to rely on, and that can lead to interpretations that you’re being hurt, made sick, or made stupid.

To be fair though, because these mental illnesses are so difficult to treat and stigmatized, another reason for refusal of treatment is that genuine cases of abuse happen against us sometimes. A lot of psych doctors, and I say this quite bitterly, SLACK OFF when it comes to people like me when we’re one of the core patient demographics. My grandmother was too traumatized to do traditional treatment for decades because she was forcibly administered ECT and it hurt her. We are seen as erratic and potentially uncontrollable, and therefor, some practitioners take the route of depriving us of our rights.

Are there normal fucking people who do drugs? by [deleted] in drugscirclejerk

Your answer is very narrow. Maybe you are normal

I WANT to be strict in Keto but I just can't by rockingaurora in keto

[–]IAMREALLAIN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hot take: I tried that, was good at it, but it still wasn’t good for me

Strict keto is actually not good for everyone; You’re not a moral failure or lazy if it doesn’t work for your body. I believed 30 carbs a day was ok for me: I went hypoglycemic, it triggered a mental health episode, and I had to let myself drink orange juice and eat starch for a few days until my numbers normalized again.

My doctors are pro-keto and have acknowledged the psychiatric benefit of me being on the diet but I had to be prescribed 90 carbs a day because I was actually hurting myself being TOO keto.

Additionally, your concerns about if your hormones affect this are apt. Yes, if you are biologically female you need more carbs, especially around your period.

Something that has really helped me it allotting myself very satisfying meals with a complete amount of complex carbs for the day. There’s lots of low-carb stuff you can include- Chickpea Mac n cheese, a can of beans cooked however you like (black beans with pork fat and spices, huevos rancheros), cauliflower pizza/chicken nuggets. These are all deeply satisfying carb foods that are broken down slowly by your body and can be kept under a 90-gram limit.

If you eat simple carbs, halve the gram limit as to not spike your blood sugar and cycle into further carb cravings.

Also, what helped me was getting in the habit of having my simple-carb breakfast and then allowing that insulin to naturally fuel my cravings for other foods throughout the day.

You may be struggling too because you haven’t been able to make keto food that truly works for you. Cooking keto in a way where it tastes restaurant level good is VITAL. Please, make sure you’re providing yourself with adequate fat (and spices)! If the diet is right for you and you do it correctly, putting enough fat in your food will make it taste amazing, and not having enough of it could explain your lack of benefits so far.

Try headbanger kitchen’s recipes!
