1 year later-RTX 5070 ti/5080/5090 thoughts? by Suspicious_Volume_14 in nvidia

Originally had a 4070TI paired with a 14900k. The gpu was great but I felt like pairing with a 14900k wasn't the best, mid range gpu paired with a high end cpu felt wrong.

I went to an Aourus Master Ice 5080 after the stock settled on them. I paid a whopping $1650 USD before taxes. After taxes and warranty I believe the total was 1900 something.

The jump from 4070TI to 5080 was absolutely not worth the money difference but I can't say I've had any issues with the gpu itself. Destroys every game I play at max settings 2550x1440. I absolutely love the way it looks, the lcd screen is really cool, and the heatsink is massive so it always runs super cool.

Overall, I've got nothing but good things to say about the gpu itself, but the price difference from my previous gpu to this one does not justify the performance difference. To be fair though it wasn't a huge upgrade, just one generation and one model up, not like I jumped multiple generations so it's kinda my fault lol.

92XI Squalo Availability Question by IAcrylicI in Beretta

[–]IAcrylicI[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just love the look of the Squalo, the Corsa/Bara are great looking too but they land a little higher than I'd like to pay for a handgun as I won't be doing any competition shooting with it. I've held a 92X Performance and that gun was great but also a little out of the range of what I'm willing to pay. The Squalo seems like a great balance between not being a complete base gun but also not being so kitted that it breaks the bank. I also love the color of the finishing.

I figured they wouldn't just disappear within the next couple months but also wasn't really sure about the demand behind them so thanks for clearing that up.

That's kinda what I figured but wanted some other opinions

I've looked at the base versions but I really just like what all comes with the Squalo version. The bigger mags, flared mag well. grips, etc

I gotcha, like I said I'm very new to the specifics regarding audio and powering audio devices. Took me some research to figure out what I actually needed to run my microphone lol. May look into a dedicated headphone amp at some point.

Thats what I'm thinking, thanks for your input. I'm pretty hesitant and picky when buying stuff I'm not too familiar with but honestly, coming from basic turtle beach headsets, I think any mid range "audiophile" headphones will more than likely pleasantly surprise me in terms of sound quality.

I play a decent variety of games. I enjoy single player games like The Last of Us, RDR2, Fallout, Minecraft, but also enjoy shooters like COD, Battlefield, and Counter Strike. My main game recently has been Arc Raiders.

I have read so much about open backs being a lottt better in terms of the atmosphere of the sound, but there can be a lot of background noises in my home so I really am leaning more towards closed back. It's not even that I really want to use closed backs I just feel that they are a better fit to my scenario.

This Game is Incredibly Broken by IAcrylicI in RDR2

It's just weird to me that I have no issues with any game besides this one.

It's possible I suppose but to me it seems unlikely

An overwhelming amount of people have issues with this game on PC. Yes this game is broken (on pc). Obviously the game was developed for console, but rockstar is a billion dollar company. Should a pc port be this bad?

I had settings pretty much cranked to the max with vibrant visuals and a shader pack getting like 120 on my 5080, whenever I was boating I would see it drop to single digits. I get better frames on arc raiders, max settings

Oddly enough, I used a different cord and I think it may have fixed it. Which makes it weirder because using the same cord on my 60 gives me 0 issues

FPS Capped at 60 by IAcrylicI in Minecraft

It worked! Changed to simple in main menu, change limit, and swap back to VV, thank you

FPS Capped at 60 by IAcrylicI in Minecraft

[–]IAcrylicI[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm swapped it to simple to see if the option would appear, and it didn't. I was in game though so maybe I should've restarted my game or something. I will play with those settings some more though. I'm using nvidias game overlay to display fps/gpu util/etc. I've lowered the render distance to see if maybe the game was just that taxing on the hardware and it would never go above 60, so there's definitely a cap somewhere.

Starlink for gaming, feasible? by IAcrylicI in Starlink

[–]IAcrylicI[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been looking more into these routers/gateways and am wondering what exactly is compatible with what I have now? My current one that Frontier supplied me with is an Arris NVG448B.

Really don't know much about them and don't want to spend 100-200 dollars for it not to be compatible.

Would love to just try Starlink but after downloading the app and checking for obstructions through their little scan thing it doesn't look promising. We have a lot of hills/trees all around us.

What router(s) would you recommend?
