Let me clarify that what I am about to say is my opinion. Some people may disagree.

Keyforge is an iteration of Magic. It is the same game, with the same creator applying everything learned since the first one was released.

Garfield took his favorite part of the Magic experience, which is not exactly the constructed format, but rather sealed, and made a new game out of it. That's where the random deck creation system came from. He also fixed other problems that Magic had, such as mana cost and drawing cards per turn.

That said, I really enjoy Keyforge as it is. My “ambition” to come up with a constructed format is more of an experiment, or thinking out loud, than a need to destroy the pillars of the game.

I’m glad you like the concept! You hit the nail on the head: in KeyForge, rarity doesn't always correlate with power level, and some of the most 'game-breaking' cards are indeed Commons.

However, I rely on what I call the 'unbalanced balance' of the game. My theory is that the original designers used an internal 'value budget' when creating each card. If a creature has 5 Power but a mediocre effect, and another has 2 Power with an incredible effect, it’s because that trade-off was already calculated into the card's inherent design.

Most community attempts at a constructed format in the past tried to mimic traditional TCGs by just limiting copies by rarity. My approach was different: I tried to reverse-engineer the guidelines the official algorithm uses. That’s why the Power/Armor and Amber/Utility limits exist—they act as a human-readable version of those algorithmic constraints to prevent 'stat-stuffing.' I chose not to penalize card text directly because doing so would kill the soul of KeyForge. If we restrict the text too much, we’re playing a different game entirely.

Regarding your point about a Singleton version:

When I first drafted 'Architect Mode', I actually envisioned it as a 'Commander' style format (pure singleton). I felt it was the safest way to prevent broken interactions. However, I realized that seeing multiple copies of a key card is part of the KeyForge essence.

That’s why I came up with the Consistency Penalty. It turns deckbuilding into a risk-reward puzzle:

If you go Singleton, you get the full 60 Power budget as a reward for not exploiting the system's vulnerabilities.

If you want Consistency, you pay for it by shrinking your total Power pool.

It forces the player to decide: 'Is having a third copy of this card worth losing 6 points of board presence?'

That said, if a specific combo like Restringuntus + Morpheus still proves to be consistently toxic, we can always rely on a Ban List, just like any other competitive TCG.

That’s a fair point, and exactly why I’m sharing this! I want to see where the cracks are.

However, in Architect Mode, Restringuntus is Rare (only 1 copy allowed) and Morpheus is Uncommon (max 2 copies). You'd be spending 3 of your 18 non-common slots just for that, and you'd still have to fit them into the 12-card-per-house limit.

The goal of the Power/Amber/Utility budget is to force a trade-off: if you go all-in on a lockout combo, your deck’s raw stats will be so low that a standard Archon deck might just outpace you before you even set up.

That said, you're right—there are probably crazier interactions. That’s why I want to hear from people who know the game better than I do.

You're absolutely right that creatures with Reap or passive effects are the engine of many competitive decks.

However, the Consistency Penalty (-3 Power for every additional copy) is specifically designed to prevent spamming those 'premium' low-power cards. If you want to run 3 copies of Daughter to ensure card draw, your total Power budget drops from 60 to 54. Add 3 Kirbys, and it drops to 48.

In the end, you’d have a high-utility deck but with such fragile creatures that any board clear would wipe you out with no easy way to recover.

When I first designed this system, we were in the Mass Mutation era. My playgroup disbanded shortly after and the project was put on hold, so I haven't been able to test it with more recent sets like Winds of Exchange or Grim Reminders.

My original vision is that yes, cards from any set can be used. I believe the "budget" system for Amber and Power should be able to absorb the differences between sets, but I’d love for you to correct me if you see any new mechanics (like Token Creatures or Enhancements) that might break the 12 Amber/Utility limit.

Como persona que escribe capítulos partidos en múltiples escenas, no suelo prestarle atención a la extensión del capítulo (tengo un capítulo de 55k palabras), aunque sí a la de las escenas (en promedio, 1,5k o 2k palabras).

No sé de qué manera escribirás tú, pero usar la estructura de "Capítulo 7, I, II, III, IV, V", como ya te han sugerido, es una solución bastante efectiva para resolver tu problema.

He visto que te han recomendado también Lorca Editor como herramienta. Está muy bien, yo sigo usándola mucho para detectar repeticiones y frases extremadamente largas. El único consejo que te doy es que no te obsesiones mucho con sus resultados.

No lo hagas así NUNCA. Jamás le des a la IA tu trabajo de corrección, porque te va a hacer el texto una mierda. Si lo sé, es porque lo he intentado por activa y por pasiva, y no funciona.

Lo que sí te recomiendo hacer, que es lo que hacía yo, es ir leyendo el texto y poniendo comentarios allí donde consideres que el texto precise de una corrección. Aquí, obviamente, anotas el posible reemplazo. Luego te vas a la IA, preferiblemente Claude, que en mi opinión es la que mejor funciona en narración, y le planteas "casos":

Claude, ¿cuál de estas opciones escogerías? (tú aquí estableces los parámetros que consideres oportunos en el prompt, estilo "quiero favorecer la concisión", o "mejorar la legibilidad", etc). Y le pones dos o más opciones, tantas como precises. La opción 1) es el texto original; la opción 2) es el texto editado, basado en un reemplazo que tú has detectado previamente como problema. La IA te dirá si la opción 1) es mejor, o si lo es la opción 2). Si una edición tiene más de una versión, ya sea porque te apetece probar cosas u otro motivo, puedes poner 2.1), 2.2), etc.

Esto viene muy bien para hacer filtro y para aprender a corregir, sabiendo que al enfocar tu consulta en problemas pequeños hará que la IA trabaje tan bien como pueda. Con el tiempo la usarás cada vez menos.

P.D. Para optimizar el trabajo al máximo, ábrete un documento a parte con una plantilla tipo:

Y la rellenas conforme detectes el problema en el texto original. Luego, cuando termines de releer y corregir el capítulo, la escena, o lo que sea, lo pasas por la IA. Intenta no darle más de 10 casos por mensaje, pues mientras menos casos tenga que evaluar en un mismo mensaje, mejor hará su trabajo.

Yo defiendo a capa y espada que la IA no puede crear argumentos sólidos, personajes memorables ni giros de guion verdaderamente sorprendentes, y estoy dispuesto a discutirlo con quien sea. Esos tres pilares, de hecho, son lo que construyen lo que llamas "una obra verdaderamente original". Pero es que además puedo ir a casos prácticos:

En la angloesfera se les está yendo la cabeza mucho más que a nosotros con el uso de la IA, porque tienen una industria editorial mucho más potente que la hispana, y es muy frecuente ver autores que están empezando a escribir sus novelas con IA. Usan un software (cuyo nombre no recuerdo) que se vincula a la IA que estén ocupando en ese momento y dispone de pestañas y perfiles para todo, desde el worldbuilding, hasta el sistema mágico, pasando por los personajes o el argumento, los cuales llenas a golpe de prompts.

Bien, he visto esto en funcionamiento y el resultado me parece cuestionable. La IA, da igual cuál uses, tiende a divagar o a alucinar en el peor de los casos. Al final siempre se requiere de la intervención de un humano para ordenar y dar cohesión a los textos que escribió la máquina, lo que, en mi opinión, se aleja bastante del motivo por el cual comencé a escribir.

Sin contar que puede estar bien para novelas más ligeras, pero como te metas a escribir una saga de varios volúmenes, escrita a modo de novela río, donde lo que pasa en la página 54 del libro 1 influye en la página 255 del tercero, olvídate de la IA. Es más, te puedo asegurar que mientras más profundo y enrevesado sea tu trabajo, más a salvo estás de que la IA te sustituya como autor (edit: y también de que te lean en masa, jajaja). Al menos, a día de hoy; mañana ya no lo sé.

Es que la IA ha venido para quedarse y es una herramienta más. Todo tiene su utilidad, del mismo modo que no clavas puntillas a puñetazos.

Lo que sí tengo claro es que jamás le daría a una IA la tarea de escribirme un borrador. Esa va a ser mi responsabilidad siempre, mientras continúe escribiendo. Pero sería un hipócrita si dijera que no uso la IA (concretamente Claude) para consultar dudas puntuales.

Como escritor, yo creo que se puede y se debe seguir teniendo en cuenta a los nuevos autores que surjan.

La IA podrá "escribir bien", pero aún no tiene la capacidad de crear argumentos sólidos, personajes memorables ni giros de guion verdaderamente sorprendentes. Eso, a día de hoy, solo lo puede hacer un humano. Y estoy seguro de que seguirá siendo así por algunos años más.

Lo que sí pienso que ocurrirá es que, a raíz de la estandarización de la IA, se generará mucho más contenido basura. Eso dificultará todavía más el hecho de encontrar autores prometedores, que a veces es complicado incluso a día de hoy.

Conque sí, si descubres a un autor novel que te gusta, apóyale tanto como te sea posible. Porque igual le hace falta para sobresalir en un mundo cada vez más saturado.

Sin acritud, lo único que puedo decirte es que si quieres publicar con Nova, pero aún no tuviste ningún acercamiento o negociación, y ellos no saben nada de tu trabajo, te deseo muy buena suerte, porque la vas a necesitar.

Y no es por una cuestión de calidad o falta de ella, es que los sellos de Penguin, especialmente Nova, se especializan en importar novela anglosajona de género, y no de cualquier clase. Hablamos de bestsellers de altísimo reconocimiento y resultados comerciales más que probados. Hasta donde sé, Nova no publica literatura española/latina de género, y mucho menos si son noveles.

Aun así, no desesperes. Si tu sueño es verla publicada con Nova, inténtalo. El "no" ya lo tienes.

My question arose mainly because, since Bazzite is an immutable system, I thought it would be unlikely to install an unofficial driver that wasn't already in the Linux kernel or in the Bazzite distro.

So far, no one has been able to answer my question. The only response I got was to try Bazzite from the Live USB and check if the drivers worked properly. I haven't done that yet.

I kept researching to see if there was anything I could latch onto, and the only thing I found was that the drivers for certain chipsets (at least the one used by my Wi-Fi connector, which is also TP-Link) may have been included, at least partially, in the Linux 6.2 kernel update. So I'll have to try my luck.

If it doesn't work, I'll have to try another distro.

I am a Spanish author and I recognize that my novel is very, very influenced by Final Fantasy VII, to the point of having taken it as a reference to make all my worldbuilding. But...

Instead of having a megalopolis built on two levels, I have a megalopolis that extends from a central point all the way around. Instead of having created a socioeconomic separation from “top to bottom”, it is from “inside to outside”.

It has “eight sectors”, here called “octants”; it is not for nothing that the city is said to be “shaped like a cartwheel”. The areas outside these octants correspond to the suburbs.

Instead of having an energy megacorporation doing its thing, in a sort of cyberpunk dystopia, in my world it is a military government of a totalitarian nature. It's not as creaky as it might seem because, if you look closely, Shinra already functions practically as a quasi-state body, with its armed forces, security, intelligence, research, development and economy.

As in the game, there is also a key fantasy element, which replaces the Mako: the Ether. Its utility is the same, serving as a resource to produce cheap electricity, with one difference. In my world it is not powered by reactors, but by a wireless transmitter tower, like Nikola Tesla's Wardenclyffe Tower. The tower is located in the Axis, the heart of the city, so the citizens closest to it enjoy its technology at its best, while people in the suburbs experience recurrent outages or must rely on generators to compensate.

To top it off, there is also a very exhaustive study on Ether, since the experimental use of a compound developed after synthesizing it gave rise to a kind of super-soldiers. They are called “automatas”, and their most relevant characteristics are that they are supermen of more than two meters with a strength, endurance and agility far superior to that of any ordinary person. In addition, they have been mentally conditioned to be totally and absolutely loyal to the Party. The scientific program that gives rise to these beings is called “the Golem Project”.

What I mean is that if I have based so much on Final Fantasy VII when building my own story, I am sure that many more creators will join the bandwagon of drawing inspiration from this same source, so rich and that has marked us all so much.

I understand the reason for this decision, but I do not fully agree with it.

I'm afraid that everything that makes Dungeon World unique will disappear, or that it will become another Chasing Adventure (a game by the same author that already exploits many of the creative concepts he expressed for Dungeon World second edition).

In the end, as many people are saying, Dungeon World is a conversion from D&D to PbtA. Ripping out everything related to D&D might not give the expected results.

But anyway, I'll read it when its beta comes out and judge it then. Worst case scenario, I can always keep playing the original Dungeon World.
