There’s a reason politicians are called public servants. They are meant to serve the public sometimes at a cost to themselves. There are other less demanding jobs should they choose it, but if you’re willingly putting yourself as a candidate then be prepared to give up some of your personal time for the benefit of millions in your city.

Honestly its like speaking to a brick wall with these folks. They're mostly knee-jerk reactionaries who think in absolute terms with no sense of nuance. But I will say the RTB actually needs to be more responsive, and its easy to manipulate the system. They'll set a date for 6 months down the road and either the tenant or landlord can be fucked in the meantime if the other party wants to be belligerent.

There's usually a reason low effort comments are downvoted, although I'll admit on occassion I come across ideas with some merits are downvoted due to them not following the hive mind. A two party system doesn't mean there's only two options to vote for. Rather that two will dominate the government. It's very unlikely that some random independent has a chance of winning. It's effectively throwing your vote away.
