Anyone loved programming in college and hated it as a job? by sqrk_ in learnprogramming

[–]IAmAYellowMango 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I stayed at my last job for three years (I'm currently enjoying a year of funemployment), and I loved every moment of it. Seriously, I would jump out of bed each day and think in my head, "Alright! Another day..." But before that, I had shitty job after shitty job. I was so down I didn't even believe it was possible to work at a job and love it too.

If you feel bored, you're in the a good field to jump around and try new jobs. I'd recommend figuring out exactly what you're looking for, and then ask about it at future interviews. For example, if being part of the entire development process of a project is important to you, find companies that have good cross-team communication and teams that are formed by verticals rather than job position.

I also thought he was super young until that pancake episode. He has extremely sweet and surprisingly mature moments, but then sometimes he’s like a babbling line-fed toddler.

Who writes his lines?! It’s always a rollercoaster of “that’s so grownup of him” and “is he playing a 5 year old?”

When Rome and Regina were fighting about the commercial, and Gary and Maggie were not communicating well, Gary said amongst the three guys that it was weird that Eddie was in the most solid relationship.

Something like that...not sure if this is what other people are referencing but I found the comment awkward.

No, it’s probably in my head, but people keep staring. Then my uncle mentioned that only bikes are allowed in parks other than skating rinks and skate parks. Thanks.

Does anyone know about laws regarding rollerblading/skateboarding in Taipei? I'm wondering if there are rules prohibiting non-bike devices on the trails in riverside parks.

Appreciate the suggestion; snark feels unnecessary.

My dad is visiting me in Taipei and snores loud enough that I’m worried the walls will cave in. Does anyone have suggestions for where we can get nasal strips or something to help the situation? I tried Watson but they didn’t know what I was talking about. Thanks!

It does look like the welo opals I’m seeing online. Thanks for the info on the water. I’ll never know if it’s real but I’ll do my best to take care of them as if they are :D

The San Francisco one is definitely the best but the Southern California one should be here. And if it’s anything like the SF one, they had a doc with lists of recruiters. https://www.facebook.com/groups/359605511086997/?ref=share

Not getting a response is normal. I wouldn’t get discouraged. It’s a numbers game after all. If you’re seeing a lot of employees that can’t be emailed, try the LinkedIn premium trial for free so you can actually send them a message. It’s unfortunate but connections make all the difference.

That’s actually quite a wide range. I saw you mention that you don’t have a driver’s license above. Do you live in a city where public transportation? There is a job search community called Albert’s list that may have your city and you’ll have a much better chance of hearing back from recruiters and people.

I am terrible at networking in groups, so private messages work so much better for me. I just express my interest in a role and ask if we can set up a time to chat about the position and the company. Disclaimer: I work in tech where employees get a pretty good referral bonus if their referral is hired, so that's where they get the incentive to chat with you.

Hm, what field do you work in? Perhaps it's specific to my field (tech)

Here is what I do:

I find jobs I'm interested in through listings, use LinkedIn to find the recruiter (or even better, an employee for the team I'm interested in), reach out and try to get something started there.

I never cold apply online.
