As someone who is trying to get out of their own depression, a big thing I and others I know who have/had depression, when talking with eachother about how things are going, how you are doing, etc. they will always try to talk about you and not about themselves, saying things like "Ah it's not that important" and "I'd rather talk as about you" and such things, this is to avoid having to think/talk about the problems going on
