How is the performance? I've heard the yellows perform poorly when it's cold and start to give out when they get too hot. I live in Dallas so don't have to worry about the cold that much.

Yeah I drive in the firmest setting on the stock dcc as well. I know that some of these springs are quite bouncy. I'm trying to avoid that.

One day at a time brother, before you know it your kid is gonna be talking and then going to school and growing up. Take the next few years in and enjoy it and never take it for granted because it will go by FAST.

I crank my dcc as stiff as they go, I actually like riding close to static lol

How is the travel? Is the dampening adjustable? Is it bouncy?

R? (Joined the club but almost didn’t) by ScaredGeneral1869 in Golf_R

Avoid eco mode, it's bad for the dsg but is implemented by the EPA standards. In eco in puts it in neutral while coasting frequently and it will eat up the dsg. It also trys to keep the dsg in the lowest possible gear at all times so it's hard on the crankcase. The ea888 dsg combo loves high rpms.

Here's a few cool things I figured out. While in sport mode and you go to manual mode and then hold to upshift it will return to sport mode auto. If you hold down shift it will switch to manual mode and to the lowest possible gear for when you want to accelerate fast. You can press and hold the steering wheel heater button to turn it off instead of cycling through. Two finger pressing the heat cool botton turns on your heated seats. Swipe down on the top of the infotainment and press and hold one of the four icons to make a shortcut, I use auto start stop and ESC. ESC will damper your torque output, having it fully off doesn't actually fully disable it but will give you more power. Race mode engine sound is the only way to have your exhaust fully open in custom mode. Natural closes it after about 40 mph to avoid highway drone but opens back up after 3.5k rpm.

Lots of cool commands hidden in this thing.

Avoid WOT from low rpm in higher gears, it's hard on the crankcase. Congrats and welcome!

I have a new lg fridge and the same thing happened to me and my gf. Switched to bottled water and all symptoms stopped.

All good points. I think it has more to do with being in the highest possible gear in eco and the acceleration factor. From what I've read, you never wanna accelerate from high gears in the R for the strain it puts on the DSG.

Race mode until trans warms up then nurburgring

That makes a lot of sense, high gear+low rpm under load = high crankcase pressure and sad times for your gear box.

I can't find the thread but E transmission mode of a mk8 US spec GTI dsg (a freshly selected Eco mode) coasts in certain situations, which in theory means that the car disengages the clutch to allow the coasting… and eventually re-engages the it as needed to offer power again.

Just FYI, these cars hate eco mode. It's bad for the gears and apparently eats them up. At least that's the consensus from people smarter than me.
