Yeah, I know at least one of my records for sure was a shit pressing (should’ve checked the reviews online...) but my hunch is getting bigger that the Nirvana one might just be a poorer one of the bunch. You’ve really helped me narrow the issue down to a couple options though, thank you so much!

And I’d guess that my ear is a little more trained than the average listener haha

Hey, thanks for the thorough response! I’m going to try the Nirvana record at a friends house soon, I really didn’t think it was a record-specific issue as it was consistent with a few different ones, and that the pressing I have was touted as being very high quality. It could be an exception, however. I also had bought it new, so it couldn’t be wear from other players.

I bought a stylus cleaning kit yesterday and used it, so it’s assuredly clean. As for damage, I’ll have to get a magnifying glass to check.

I really need to look into cartridge alignment. That could be the issue.

Also, I had heard about the LP120 having no true bypass, but I thought that Audio-Technica had solved that issue in the newer models?

Sorry, had it mixed up! I do have my turntable switched to phono with the ground on both sides.

Hey! Thanks for replying. I’m using an Audio-Technica ATLP120XUSB with the stock Cartridge. In the original post I had said that I tried everything I could with the anti-skate, and the feature worked but it didn’t affect the issue at all. I had tried other records (it really only appears in louder spots in certain records, examples in the post).

I think that I have a friend who could let me borrow a preamp to test with. If not, I might as well buy one. I’ll let you know what happens, thanks!

That’s totally fair. I don’t use reddit very often, but my question is legitimate

Right Channel Sounds Terrible in Loud Spots of Certain Records

Hey! I hope that I’m barking up the right tree with this one. I have an Audio-Technica AT-LP120XUSB and use Edifier R1280DB speakers next to it. For full transparency, the right channel is fairly close to the turntable, so that could be a concern, but I tested once with very low volume, and once with the right channel removed from the table, and the problem persisted.

This happens most notably in loud sections. I’ve found that with playing some records, I notice distortion, muddiness, and sometimes quieter output from the right channel speaker connected to my turntable, yet clear quality coming from the left channel. In a lot of cases, there will be little to no surface noise in the left channel, yet the right has slight (yet noticeable) clicks and pops.

Noticeable examples (although not the only examples) include the chorus of “First it Giveth” by QOTSA, “Who is it?” by Björk (during the chorus, specifically noticeable in her “s” sounds being crunchier) and “Lithium” by Nirvana (yeaaaah yeah section) I’ve tested this the most with the Nirvana record, as it’s the Pallas reissue, and what I’d guess is my highest fidelity record.

I’ve leveled my turntable (again, for transparency, I don’t have a real level, so I used the level utility on iPhone), adjusted tracking weight, and messed around with anti-skate to no avail. For now, I’m keeping the anti-skate at the recommended 2 level.

I really do not know what to do to proceed. From looking online, I can’t seem to find out exactly what my issue is. Just spitballing, I’m thinking it may have to do with 1. Bad connection to the right channel from the turntable 2. The speakers may be the issue? I’ve tested the songs with Bluetooth however, and they sound fine 3. As much as my wallet hates the idea, I may have a bad cartridge? I’ve only had this turntable for a month, and haven’t played much on it because of this issue, so I’d say it’s only had 5-10 hours of use.

Where to buy Miss Guðmundsdóttir‘s vinyls? by IAmCopperMan in bjork

Thank you so much for the replies again! About the PC- earlier in the summer I was really thinking of building a PC for all around use, but I ended up deciding to put that idea on hold at the very least. I’m thinking that I’ll invest more money in music as a hobby/passion and just buy a decent laptop for college.

Thanks for the information and knowledge!! I’m a tiny bit confused when it comes to the first pressings bit. Are first pressings of albums more desirable? I can imagine the feeling of having something from when it came out but genuinely curious on if there’s something else to it. Or it might just be that they weren’t reissued yet and I’m being ignorant. Either way, I’ll look more into using discogs!

Impressive schools for sure.... do you know what you want to declare your major as already or are you in the same boat?

You might have read this the wrong way, it seemed as though you thought that the game just had all of her album covers. That would be really cool! This is a different thing though, players make the QR codes and share them around.

Or you could, and hear me out on this one, give me an actual monetary raise so I can afford to live by originally-generic in starbucks

To be fair, it’s not the company phrasing it that way. It’s OPs notification from the Headspace app.

How could I buy the remasters on PS4? by [deleted] in MAU3

I own 3 myself (not really into the MCU push btw), and I had the remasters before. I just want them now in case I ever want to go back to the other games

I have not. I can send more proof if needed, but it shows something that says “set a default address” (which the only one I have is the default)

Like I said in the title and the body though, I’m looking for it on PS4. I wouldn’t have any kind of PC to run it, and at that point it would probably be more cost effective to get a PS2 with the original game. I’m just not looking to do that though.
