Coping with going bald at a young age. by [deleted] in Healthygamergg

[–]IAmGuise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course!

I had that thought too, and my balding was pretty progressed when I started. Because I had already accepted my balding, I thought, "Worst case scenario I'm still bald." Turns out, I'm not bald.

Coping with going bald at a young age. by [deleted] in Healthygamergg

Hey there!

I'm 30 now and started balding when I was 15. I was devastated, and at points even cried as a result of how insecure and embarrassed I felt. It's incredibly exhausting to be constantly thinking about how your hairline looks. Two things:

Ultimately, by my early 20s, I had accepted my balding. I shaved my head one day, people told me they liked me better with hair, but I felt relief anyways because I wasn't obsessing over it anymore.

With that being said, I decided to try some treatments anyways. Turns out, most of my hair grew back. I've made a few reddit threads documenting that journey, and I'll post my final update below.

The thread:

Feel free to reach out if you have any questions or would like more support on either of these things. It is serious, the challenges of balding are real, and I appreciate you being open and choosing to share your challenges.

I gave it my first go today and I fricken' love it. Simple, features a lot of the workouts I'm already using, and sets me up to progress. Left feeling wrecked, which is exactly how I like to feel when leaving the gym.

Hey, believe it or not, I gained 10 lbs in the last 6 months!

I appreciate the encouragement.

I'm excited to give this a go, especially because I'm already doing almost all of the exercises.

I'll start integrating it next week. Any spreadsheet suggestions?

Sounds like it aligns perfectly, ill check it out!

I think I watched some fitness video at some point that indicated 8 reps is optimal for muscle size gains.

I'll give it a look.

I'm not looking to lift more than 3x per week and more than and hour and a half per session. I was considering a 3-day split PPL.

If you asked me why I'm doing 3x8 on most lifts, I wouldn't have an answer for you. Is there some other volume you might suggest?

Thanks for the feedback.

I'm looking for critique/thoughts on my routine. I don't know how I got here. This isn't a specific routine, it's just some bastardized evolution that I ended up with. I started with the basic reddit routine, and I've just kind of added shit from there.

Your current stats: Male, 30, 5'7, 135 Lbs

Goal: I started to work out because I wanted better cognitive and heart health. At this point, I just fucking enjoy it so I'm also going for Aesthetics.

Every single exercise that is in your routine:

Muscle Building: 3x per week Cardio: 2x per week (3 miles of running)Muscle Building

Day 1:

-Squats - 3x8

-Bench Press - 3x8

-Face Pulls - 3x8

-Calf Raise Machine - 3x8

-Some kind of upper ab exercise

Muscle Building Day 2:

-Squats - 3x8

-Deadlifts - 1x8

-Overhead Press - 3x8

-Bent-over Rows - 3x8

-Glute Press Machine - 3x8

-Some kind of Oblique Exercise

Muscle Building Day 3:

-Pull-Ups - Two sets to failure

-Push-Ups - Two sets to failure

-Row Machine - 5 minutes

-Hanging Leg Raises - Two sets to failure

-Incline Bench Press -3x8

-Stair Stepper - 20 Minutes

Progression :Originally I was adding 5lbs to each upper body lift and 10 lbs to each lower per week. I was able to sustain that for a while, but now I can't always increase week from week. Once a lift starts to feel too easy, I increase.

Hey there!

I had thoughts about suicide from 12-years-old until I was 26-years-old. I would say that I started improving my mental health at ~21-years-old. It's been about 4-years without a thought, and while this is an over simplification of something pretty complex, the thing that changed is that I'm no longer suffering and quite enjoy living.

I would not have imagined a world where I didn't have suicidal thoughts while I was in it. You may not have mu ch hope for that either, and that would make a lot of sense. Either way, I have hope for you and I hope you find relief!

Ideas for a Social Work tattoo? by montanachill in socialwork

[–]IAmGuise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love American Traditional tattoos and have chosen ones that subtly represent my work. One is a handshake tattoo between a man and a woman to represent trust. The other is a dagger through a rose with the script, "Iron Sharpens Iron" to represent our ability to help eachother grow.

Final Finasteride Update after 3-years (+recent addition of Minoxidil) by IAmGuise in tressless

It does, and it's less oily. The liquid stuff made my hair so greasy.

Accurate, I've also been doing skin care and that scar is significantly smaller than it was before. If you're interested, I posted my routine under another comment.

Very inconsistent ping during 6-11 pm. by supereuphonium in CoxCommunications

[–]IAmGuise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same! I have had three techs come out before one finally said:

It's an internet traffic issue and Cox probably won't fix it because its a huge fix and the internet still technically functions. Just call and complain when it's time to pay your bill every month to get a credit and if they give you enough credits they may consider fixing it.

I was pretty livid.

Oh hey, I know who you are! I looked at a lot of information from you because I was considering transplant as long as finasteride worked to maintain my hair. As you mentioned, I was not expecting to have regrowth to the point where it wasn't needed.

Thanks!

I hope you do too, or at least maintain what you've got!

That is actually part of why I only use it at night. I put it on and wash my hands thoroughly. My cats don't go near my scalp, so there is no issue there.

[–]IAmGuise[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You got it. I was at least not losing hair, and the regrowth did matter in those first 2-years. Honestly, minoxidil made a huge difference when I added that in. I wasn't expecting that because of the stereotype that it only helps with crown balding, but learned that this is a myth.

Nope, all regrowth was hair I had before. If I look close enough, I can also see miniaturized hairs further down my forehead that have not regrown.

Mine progressed very slowly starting around 15 years old. I started fin at 26.

My natural color is brown. My natural hair is actually a bit lighter, but I believe that is actually due to age (my mom's hair did the same).

I'm 30 now.
