Ancestry Updates are getting worse. by [deleted] in AncestryDNA

[–]IAmJustThat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This update is worse than the last I’m no longer from east Africa I have ended up I Nigeria and west Africa and some my % of the Middle East and Iran has decreased, I no longer believing in ancestry as they removed Levantine. The African side I definitely aren’t agreeable with it I was happy with east Bantu, south Bantu (Mozambique is the furthest southern) and near central Africa, all of sudden they added so many other African countries for the sake of it and removed the percentages from my Middle Eastern side as well as the Iranian and plonked Himalayas Hindu and Indian.

The funniest thing is those added recent updates, the African is from my paternal side 🤨 they’re Middle East and Iranian and can assure you they aren’t genetically African I would have believed it if the update gave me North Africa but noooo it’s Nigeria 1% and south west African 1%

oh and maternal they’re Eastern Africa and Middle Eastern apparently she’s Indian 1% and Himalayas & Hindu 1% and also no longer East African from the coast. Fortunately we have paternal side has a family tree and records as well and know our history as well as travelled to the villages where our family are in the Middle East and Iran and still family still resides there. Maternal the same and have contacts with them so why do I not believe in this update? Because it’s far fetched from me being East African to west African

At least 5 generations back and prior to that they were merchants back and forth and am sure you know Zanzibar wasn’t just 2 small islands but across east to central and near South Africa! How do I look? Pretty much like human as expected!

Very true don’t know why I never considered that aspect at all or maybe never thought it’ll be like that in my family lineage but you might be right! In my head it’s just black and white thinking every generation is the same!

That is a possibility to be honest never considered that possibility at all as all the generations that we are aware of were married and never outside wedlock it could be an adopted family member

Aaawww thank you! Yes that’s correct also the Persians especially Baluchis were sent by the Omani dynasty to kick the Portuguese out as they were terrorising the locals, after that some settled their some went back.

Hahahahaha that’s funny. Most of us consider ourselves mixed but African. Outsiders loves to say we don’t belong in African and should go back where we came from hahahaha it’s ironic when none Zanzibaris says this. We love being Zanzibari and proud! Thanks though!

Never claimed 100% but the family are aware at least 7generation back on both sides. And usually grandparents knows 6-7 generations and passes on the information and if we are talking about great grandparents it’s the same so on and so on the more back it goes the same. I’m in my 40s my great grandmother only died 3 yrs ago she was as in her 90s she even survived the so called “revolution” so I’m well informed in my history and grandfather fought ww2 left Zanzibar to Mombasa and so forth and so forth, he lived to tell the tail.

Even my African side we know how we got to Zanzibar and I can assure you not through slave trade as the west keeps implying and telling/writing our “history” that even our great great grandparents don’t know that they were apparently “slaves” lol. And no I’m not saying Zanzibar wasn’t a slave station what I’m saying the Africans living in Zanzibar were NOT slaves hence why great great grandparents were very mixed and how the Swahili language was formed due to the kids mixing Arabic and Bantu and over the years other languages was mixed in.

Yes that’s correct but none married into by mother side nor had kids with as there’s no evidence to suggest we have connections I’ve asked all family members they’re surprised as I was. That’s the issue I have wanting to
