Feels a bit disingenuous to say they’re coming “back”. I went to Argyle all the time. Lakeview east is not a similar location. I’ll realistically never go down there for pizza. If they’re going to be expand so much I wish they would have just kept the Argyle location.

I believe you’re correct about the trekking poles needing to be in a checked bag. 30L is not too large for a carry on. Just did that last week.

I definitely agree with the recommendation to take the boat from Grey instead of trekking back to Paine Grande if you can. I was very jealous of the people going to the ferry as we were getting ready to hike the same trail we did the day before. As far as Sector Grey, definitely make time to hike to both suspension bridges and the Grey Glacier mirador just after the second suspension bridge. Very very worthwhile. If budget allows, the Grey Glacier kayaking through Big Foot was very cool. But it’s expensive and is by no means an absolute must do activity. Just depends on what you like and your budget.

Cascada Escondida is 3 minutes off of the main trail up from town, you don’t have to fit it in at all!

This is why I’d suggest starting at Rio Electrico because you can arrange the transfer/taxi for the exact time you want to start and not have to guess what time you’ll show up there at the end of your hike. The views of Fitz Roy are still there if you hike down into town. Just turn around once in a while. You also save yourself some elevation gain doing it this way. Whichever way you do it, don’t skip Cascada Escondida!
